I currently have 2 computers networked together with a hub. If I get this, will I still need the hub? Or can I still share files and a printer if they are both connected through this router, without using the hub?

mchurchm: You would no longer need the hub. You could plug all of your devices directly into this router.

However, you could save the hub for future expansion. The hub itself can be plugged into this router, giving you extra ports.

This router actually has a built in switch, which is better than a hub. A hub is "dumb" in the way it routes traffic. A switch delivers the full speed to every port, making your transfers much faster.

In other words: Use the router!

I was tempted to get this (need one for when I get cable this summer). But thenI was at CompUSA - they've got a Siemens 4 port router (model 2614) on sale for 50 (100-20 instant - 30 MIR). It has a built in print server and serial port for a modem backup. So I bought that.

However, I can't seem to find much info on this router online. No reviews etc. Anyone have experience with it? Am I just not looking in the right places?

dboy, i musta been following you and didn't know it.

I just got home with the Siemens 2614, plugged it in, pointed IE to the routers address, clicked pppoe, put in the passwd, clicked connect and it worked. the only way it could have been easier, is if you did it for me.

Now if it keeps working....
