anyone have any personal experience on how long batteries last in this logitech cordless setup? the Amazon reviewer says 6mos kb and 2-3mos mouse but then some customers claim its even shorter.. so just curious if anyone here has an opinion.

i have a logitech ifeel that i really like, but wireless would clean up my desk a bit.

i have this setup.. batteries last about 2 months for me, which is a decent amount of time if you ask me, it works from a pretty good distance too, ive gone like 25 feet or so and have it pick up most keys, the mouse on the other hand i can only go about 8 ft with

Where is the $10 0ff $75 Amazon coupon? I checked fat wallet and tech bargains with no avail... Someone PM me please.

If the coupon is valid, I'm in!

Thanks for the PM meril999...

TheGizmo- Is the IR receiver USB? If so would it be possible to get a USB extension cable? In my setup, 8ft probably wouldn't cut it on the mouse, and that is what I would need more...

Good deal thanks. I'd been wanting to get this webcam for a while and $65+$10 shipping for the whitebox OEM was the cheapest I found it. Got a book and dvd i'd been wanting and got free shipping to boot. Nice dealio.

Hey mpjohnst,
I thought the set was a radial one, I went back to amazon to check but there's no hint whether it's an IR or a radial. I thought a set worth $72 should be radial
(The logitech IR keyboard+mouse is for around $65 on newegg, and the radial set is around $75-80)

I have the Freedom Optical package (owned for a month) and the mouse is already low in batteries. The keyboard so far still is at full strength. I went ahead and bougth the Logitech Dual Optical corded mouse to replace the wireless (felt bulky) and its much more accurate.

Infra-red (IR) can only send Line of Sight. There's gotta be a direct path between the device and the IR receiver.

Radio transmission can go thru stuff. It's range is usually better; costs more. You also don't have to point the transmitter right at the receiver, either.

The radio transmitting devices are way better IMO, even if you don't plan to move the device around much; if something like a soda can or even a stack of papers clutters your desk, it could block the IR signal. Radio is worth the $.

I'm pretty sure the logitechs are radio freq. now... my basic cordless freedom set sure appears to be
(no open looking LEDs and it works just fine transmitting through my legs right now).

Uhh... ChefJoe. Where you puttin' that keyboard?

I couldn't think of the word "FREQUENCY" in my last post, so I just kept saying Transmission. Radio Frequency (RF). Got it.

I'm currently typing on the keyboard and mouse combo in question. To answer some questions, I'm currently using 1800mAH NiMH batteries in both keyboard and mouse. The mouse will not survive a month, whereas the keyboard does fairly well. Maybe this is due to the amount of time I spend at the computer... As for the receiver, only one adapter for the PS/2->USB is included for the mouse. Perhaps you can write up Logitech and ask for a second, but that's up to you. I suppose it is theoretically possible to extend the range of your combo, but I find that the keyboard works well past 8 feet.

The mouse is *definitely* not sensitive enough for intensive gaming needs. The delay time is hard to deal with. Even using the mouse while surfing occassionally p*sses me off... I was wondering if anyone else's mouse flickers very quickly when left unattended for extended periods of time. It gets annoying when I sleep, and I'm assuming it contributes towards the battery drain.

I'm using rechargable batteries on my mouse, and it lasts about a month. But it's no big deal, I have another pair of rechargable batteries to switch them with. I've never had to change my keyboard batteries ever (still the batteries that it came with). It's lasted about 9 months so far, and it shows that battery level is still at the highest.

It also depends on your usage... I mean if you have your computer on day and night... you're better off with a wired mouse instead! More wire, but less hassle for batteries!
