I just can't understand spending more than $20 for a mouse. I use a Microsoft Intellimouse and it works just fine for me. 2 side buttons and a clickable mouse wheel is all I need.

To each their own. Some folks can take advantage of the extra buttons, dpi, etc...

That looks like a downgrade from the G5 2007.

No kidding, it's butt ugly. I'll stick with my G7 thank you...

bump for a price lower than anywhere else though!

I bet this is more ergonomic than that jelly bean looking thing. I hate that 510 series of mice!!

mx510 is the most ergonomic and comfortable mouse I've ever used. I don't think I'll ever be able to switch to a different shape.

Finally arrived yesterday...and I LOVE it! It's incredibly comfortable, the increase DPI borders on the ridiculous (that's a good thing, especially in FPS's), the movement is smooth regardless of which grip is used, and the frictionless scrolling is like a dream come true for a dream I didn't even know I had...every mouse should come standard with that feature. The rest (programmable profiles/macros, custom LEDs, etc) is all sauce. For $55.99, this thing is a steal.

Are you sure the rebate can be used for online purchases? At the bottom of the second page of the rebate it says, "Available @ www.logitech.com or at your local retailer."

Buy.com is my local retailer. I mailed it in let's see if I get it back...if they say it's not eligible, I'll say they should have been more specific. It's worth a shot anyway. Either way, the mouse was worth every penny of the $70.99 I paid for it, so if the rebate doesn't pan out, still a great deal.

You'd think for a $100 mouse they'd include a Logitech T-shirt, a mouse pad and replacement mouse feet. I'm going to stick with my MX518 till the day it dies.

MX518 deal >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> this one.

Logitech still haven't made a better mouse then the MX518.
The G5+ are all a scam - the sensor is the main component and they started saving on it.

The review you listed is another one among the plague of unprofessional/fake mouse reviews that aren't based on real performance facts. If you want a legit mouse review look at esreality, who actually list a method that makes sense and is fact based.

The posted review is exemplary. It shows photographs and lists the features. The only review I need is sitting on my desk, and it tells me that this mouse is the best I've ever used. I don't need benchmarking to know that a product is comfortable and more useful then anything I've ever used before. Not to mention cheaper than comparable mice with the same features (although there really are none at this point until the new Razer and MS mice come out), considering the deal offered plus the rebate. Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion based on their own experience.

Either way, can we keep this thread about the deal, and not about people's opinions regarding which logitech mouse is the "best"...a subjective determination in and of itself...?

Buy.com is an online retailer that should work with the Logitech rebate. I was on the phone with Logitech and they mentioned them.

I bought a MX518 at Target on clearance. It's seemed too light for my taste so I may just go ahead and buy the G9 without sampling it since people who have actually used it have given it great reviews.

Galbicake I use an old logitech Cordless Click! Plus at work...basically a cordless MX500 series mouse...and it's super light. One reason I love the G9 is the selectable weights...then again, LOTS of mice have that these days, but if you need a new one and you want that feature, the G9 offers it. IMO this mouse is worth every penny for the frictionless scrolling alone, not to mention the weights, interchangeable grips, and the rest of the features. It's still pretty expensive, but if you can use GCO and the rebate, it's basically $45 off retail...

agreed. a review on something that claims to be a gaming mouse should definitely focus on its gaming performance, not like some trivial issues like LED functionality. That would be like comparing CPUs based on how well the included retail heatsink work

I've done a quite bit of reading online as to gaming mouse, and my impresison was that most hardcore gaming sites consider mx518/mx510/mx310 as the only legit contenders from logitech.

that is not to say this is a bad deal, however. Thank you op for your kindness and congrats on your mouse upgrade.

I'd be interested to see a "real" review of this mouse, from a technical standpoint, which I assume will be out soon enough now that the mouse has been out for a little while. I hear what the others are saying regarding the merit of these "real" reviews, and I don't disagree, but since this mouse is so new it seems unfair to say older mice are subjectively "better" across the board just because the best reviews are written for mice that have been out for years.

Obviously I'm happy with the G9 without all those technical proofs, but since others have raised the issue, I'm curious if Logitech actually did anything to change the sensor in this version, aside from upping the number of dots (is that something in and of itself?). If not, it makes one wonder why they couldn't just add the frictionless scrolling and interchangeable grips--the other best new features IMO--to the MX series. The easy answer is that Logitech is in business to make money, so there's some element of capitalism (i.e., withholding technology and releasing it in stages one small upgrade at a time to maximize profits), but still...

In other news, called logitech customer service last night and they said the rebate *should* be good for etailers like Buy.com. Still have to wait several weeks to find out though... They also said to keep an eye out for *new* grips (wouldn't give me any more detail than that) before Christmas...

I took the plunge with GCO so I brought it down to $55.xx

It is an AWESOME mouse. I am not sure what else you could possible look for in a mouse to be honest.

Feel is great. The whole MX series were great because they were big and fit my hands but I noticed that my palm would rest off the mouse. This one appears that it just stays ergonomically.

The new Setpoint is very easy to use and has tons of great flexible options.

VERRRRRRY NICE!
