Of course it is not.
If this is 5.1, than it is a lot better than the Z540.

I just bought an Audigy card and am thinking about upgrading my speakers. I currently have the Altec Lansing 495 (or 305, mine came with a Dell system). I usually listen to music and do some occasional gaming - are these speakers good for the price/quality? I definitely don't want to spend a ton of money (I'm no audiophile), but I do want a good entry level 5.1 system.

Kinda... 4.1 and 5.1 only differ by that center piece which isn't even facing me right now cuz the way they made the stand - its stiff and faces upwards... maybe my soundcard cant handle the 5.1 but... yea, I dont hear a difference from my other cambridge 4.1 speakers.
I just got these speakers. Looks sweet... but sound = nothing exceptional. Something is just wrong with it... my ears are senitive to static noises and there's this unexplainable unclean sound... I saw on some review site they said the grill affects the sound... I think I will take it off this weekend and see if the noise disappears.
Btw, the bass also isnt the greatest thing ever. BUT ITS BETTER THAN THE FREE SPEAKERS I USED TO HAVE!!!

I have it right now. got it free from Amazon with my $50 GC. Overall very impressed by it. The only nagging thing is the super bright blue led on the center channel. A bit distracting so I just covered it with a piece of paper to dull the light.
The Sound is great for the price.

Try covering it up with a marker on the led to darken... I did this with a set of 540. I used black, but it's bright enough to shine through.

lol. No... really its BLINDING blue... not just normal blue. No BSing... u can use it to read a book
... no, not really I'm just kidding. But it really is bright. BTW, in an earlier post I said that there is static / noise... it was because I had line-in on and that was creating the static... the sound is VERY CLEAR now. I'm super happy with it
Oh yea... only problem is the center-piece faces upwards away from ur face when u put it on top of the monitor... you may have to do some fancy bending action... once it faces u turn on the 'matrix' option and u'll feel like you've been sucked into some surround-sound ball. it's very cool.
