I think it has a standard one year warranty.

USPS? I remember I used to get my replacements UPS Next Day Air, but that was a long time ago.

If people truly need a replacement part let them search the microsoft website for the right numbers. I just don't want a few abusers to ruin it for those that truly need replacements.

It's microsoft that's scamming the purchasers of faulty products. I, like probably hundreds of others, am responsible for maintaining computer systems. No mouse, no work gets done. The loss of productivity greatly outweighs the cost of the mouse. We bought about 200 of these mice recently. Now I probably need to buy another 50 in case they start failing. My time alone to diagnose a broken mouse, pull the machine out and replace it, fill out a form for replacement and mail it costs the taxpayer about $10.

unfortunetly, I work in a small town at an Officemax, and ever since this thread popped up here I get at LEAST 2 calls a day from different people asking for all of the info and the serial numbers from microsoft mice.. obviously we don't give them out (Or we make up wrong serial numbers, hehe), but the fact is that I honestly never got a scam call like that until this thread showed up... many people are abusing this system, and I think that this thread should be killed.

Talk about lazy...If they want to be a low life and scam free hardware they could get off their fat ass and go down to the store themselves

That's about a week since I called them.

Hmmm, I got an e-mail on June 25 saying it was shipped, and that was about four days after I called them and they said I would get it in about 7-10 days. Looks like its a bit late.:| But hopefully it will show up soon.

this is a huge scam, i'd delete this post before every fraud gets it and starts abusing it.

"OH WOW I DIDNT KNOW U COULD REPLACE A DEFECTIVE HARDWARE PRODUCT FROM MICROSOFT, THIS IS A HOT DEAL"

bah, u gotta be kidding me.

This is great, my mouse that i have now will scroll for no reason sometimes and i was too lazy to go to best buy (only a month old) but i just got off the phone and replacement is on the way. Guess ill give this broken one to my buddy who is poor.
poo poo on the people abusing this, we need more companies to do stuff like this and less people taking advantage of them.
Kudos to microsoft.

I too have to say Microsoft fixed the problem fast! I called them on a dead Intellimouse Optical and within a week I got my new one.

Very good deal! Lets try not to abuse it by trying to get free mice though. Microsoft is being nice by offering a free replacment policy, no questions asked. Abuse usually results in them being more restrictive.

Well I've had about two optical intellimice crap out on me, and I'm using two right now, both of them have this annoying problem of often getting stuck along the edges after screensaver, and one of they cuts out and needs to be plugged in every now and then...

I think thats reason enough to get in on this, after having paid hundreds for working mice...

You call the #, then press 3, then 1 later.

Btw, does this work for keyboards also?

Dude, call again. I called them today and it worked. The entire convo lasted 3minutes and that includes waiting for the rep.

I just went to Fry's to check out the MS mice and man, they are freaking expensive! For example, The MS Wireless Intellimouse Explorer is 59.99! The cheapest, most basic mouse is 19.95 already...crap man, what's w/ the prices these days?

The price is reasonable for today's optical mouse. What're you complaining about?
If you want cheap, go with non-optical, no name brand - $0.99

I paid about $40 for my first computer's mouse about 10 years ago, it's optical that requires to use with a special pad.

Today you can get a MS wheel mouse optical for $3 (after rebate, from Fry's when it's on sale) plus buy one get one free (from ms replacement offer) - what a hot deal!!!

I just called the 1800 number and spoke with a lady, she asked for the part number on the bottom of the mouse, verified it and took my name and shipping info and said they are in stock and I will receive it within 10 days. Thanks.

OMG! I am SO glad this was posted again! I had no clue that I could return my defective Intellimouse! It went out just last week and I had to purchase another. Well, the good thing is, I have two pc's, so the other will come in VERY handy!

When the status says "Shipped" does it mean that they really sent it out? Or are they saying that just to make me believe that they have? Mmm, I hope I won't have to wait like a week or even longer like some of you guys even tho it says that it has been "Shipped".
