The hot deal ----> An easy replacement for your intellimouse, possibly even before it breaks!

I guess Microsoft has had some defective intellimice, and is willing to replace them if you are willing to send proof of purchase and fill out the linked form.

The following are symtoms from the letter linked below:
  • cursor not moving
  • mouse buttons not responding
  • red tail-light not illuminating
  • cause the computer or an open program to stop responding during or immediately following mouse movements
I'm sure at least one of those symtoms has happened to most of us at some point, or may happen in the future, which would qualify you for the outstanding replacement offer!

Link to the letter they sent out:
Microsoft Intellimouse Replacement Letter

Link to the form you need to fill out:
Microsoft Intellimouse Replacement Form

Quote from their letter:
"Enclose proof of purchase. The eligible forms of proof of purchase include:
  • A copy of your store receipt. Please write the Product ID number on the receipt.
  • A copy of your credit card receipt or monthly statement. Please write the Product ID number on the receipt or statement.
  • The original label from your box containing the bar code. Cut it from the box and enclose it. Please write the Product ID number on it.
  • A photocopy of the bottom of your mouse showing the Product ID number. If the Product ID number is not clearly legible, please write in on the copy.

You only need to send one of these forms of proof of purchase."
Some are saying you may be able to take care of this by calling 800.360.7561, then you might not have to mail anything.

You do not need to send in the original mouse!
You only need a photocopy of the bottom of the mouse, as stated above!

This expires September 30, 2002.

This is a good reminder. Microsoft is fantastic about replacing hardware. I had a new mouse shipped to me in about three days. Very simple process.

If you have an intellimouse explorer, you won't need the box. It hasn't been available for three years, so it's still under warranty. You just call them and give them the serial #, that's it (you get the # off the bottom of the mouse.)

They never asked me for a box or anything. Just if you have a broken mouse, I just called them, nothing else.

jjsole, sorry about the repost then...
I did a search for "Intellimouse" and didn't find it, so I figured I'd post it.

I promise you, whoever posted this last week was reposting from someone a month before that, who was reposting from someone a few weeks before that... Don't worry about it. There's nothing at all wrong with reposting good information like this.

Had a Sidewinder Racing Wheel that was giving me problems. Called them up (no hold time), and they overnighted me a replacement. Old one then started to suddenly work even before they shipped the new. MS (same lady) called me back to tell me she had sent the order in, and I told her it started to work again after we had hung up the previous night. She told me not to worry about it since the one I have is considered unreliable... now I have two working wheels.

I did not even have to send the old one back... it was treated as a purchase from their store I suppose.

She also called back a couple days after I got the replacement to see if I had gotten it and if it was working...

Great support.

badluck, what should I edit it to? Is there a phone number people can call to replace it without sending anything in? Or are you saying I should change the title to not hot? Help me out here a little.

I bought one of these off of someone in the AT forsale/trade forum, but it came new in the box. I hope they will replace mine since it's started dying slowly over the last month and it's driving me crazy. Thanks for the info, I would rather call in too so if there is a phone number we can call I would appreciate someone posting it. Thanks for the info.

Great...because my explorer stopped working, the sensor doesn't turn on. This is the second one that I've had that this occurred.

your post is wrong. 1. you dont need anything but the part number under your mouse. 2. you call the 800 number and talk to someone. tell them your mouse is acting up and if you can get a replacement. 3. you give them your information and wait for the mouse to arrive.

i dont know when they started asking to scan the bottom of the mouse along with proof of purchase. they usually dont make you go through all that hassle.

im pretty sure what i said above is how they still go about replacming mice.

I'm not understanding how this is a hot deal. You are saying that the manufacturer will replace a defective item while it is under warranty? Isn't that normal? Don't all manufacturer's do this? I thought it was required by law for manufacturers to honor warranties.

This is Microsoft's Supplemental Support telephone # 800.360.7561
If your mouse is broken, give this number a call first and tell them the issue. They are not tech support so they are not going to ask any technical question about it. All they will do is give you a replacement. Easy and refined.

Not every manufacturer does that way, most require you to file rma first, get a rma number, send back at your cost, then you'll receive a refurb. replacement!!!

That was fun, just called the number to replace my replacement Intellimouse Explorer. They kept asking where i bought it and i said its a replacement from you, Give them the product number and its not in there system. So they ask me to give them the number of the driver cd and they say "thats not even close....", after double checking both they end up saying they will ship out a new one but i have to pay shipping ($5.00 usps) I can only hope with my third one they have finally solved the problem (the cord breaks in the front right corner of the mouse).

Anyone got the 1-800 number for it? I need to 0replace a Natural Pro Keyboard. My USB connector has gotten flaky on mine. Every now and then it cuts out and I have to mess with the cable to get it to power up again.

I bought my intellimouse 2 or 3 years ago. Last year it was acting up and finally I replace it with another brand. I still have the old mouse. Can I call them up for replacement still? I don't have receipt or bank statement or box or anything. Just the mouse.

Read the posts... I just did this on my mouse... call the number a couple posts up and tell them the story and when they ask give them the info off the mouse. That's all it took for me, easy and painless. No receipt or anything is needed.

I tried to call the 800#, but the CSR told me I had to fill out the form and mail it all in. Maybe I'll try and call in again and see if I can do this the lazy way. I already mailed it in, but maybe I'll get 2 mice out of this. Everyone at work was making fun of me because I came in today with a mouse in my jacket pocket so I could Xerox the bottom of the mose for the replacement. Has anyone else had problems calling in or is it just me?
