Good deal for a pretty decent mouse! However, I must say that people seem to either love it or hate it so make sure you go check one out in a B&M somewhere before you buy! I like it though for a mouse (I prefer trackballs).

I bought it this afternoon. It's a pretty good deal. The Wheel for scrolling is a little too tight (affects the speed of scrolling) and does not have the same tactile feedback as other mice I have used before. It has side to side scrolling functionality which is new but do think it's that useful.

Since it costs ~$16 (after tax), I will give it a try and hope the scrolling wheel would be loose after a while.

I have this mouse and hate it to death. The receiver is within 4 inches of the mouse and it loses signal often, even with fresh duracells. I honestly dont think its worth $15 dollars at all.

I'd stick with the wired Microsoft mouse at this price point.

I have this mouse and can recommend with these cautions:

1. Download the 5.2 drivers from MS website. The 5.0 that comes with the mouse is buggy.

2. The scroll wheel does not have the usual detents but scrolls smoothly/continuously and takes some getting used to. I don't game anymore but would probably avoid this mouse if I did. When I played UT and Q3, I usually swapped weapons with the scroll wheel.

3. Due to the ergonomic slope of the mouse, the "scroll button" action seems rather stiff and unresponsive unless you slide your hand slightly forward so that you can press slightly down and back.

4. Some complain about the high placement of the side buttons. Personally, I like them high so that I don't accidently press.

Setting aside these issues, this is a very high quality mouse for the money.

I don't understand this at all unless you haven't downloaded the 5.2 drivers or synced the receiver and the mouse. Granted, the mouse needs to be "line of sight", but losing signal is not a problem at all. In fact, I have been able to use it several feet from the receiver. Also, I've been using mine for over a month now with the same battery. Overall, I'm quite satisfied.

Just bought this mouse and haven't experienced any of the problems you've mentioned. Have you taken a closer look at the manual? There are a few suggestions for solving problems such as yours. I have the receiver behind a piece of particle board and the mouse is working perfectly, with no stuttering or interference issues. I don't know how long the battery will last since I just got it, but for $15 I'm happy. If only the original intellimouse optical 1.1 was this cheap!

I don't know. Maybe I got a bum unit then. I get perfect signal for about 10 minutes, then the mouse starts to slow down and the notification pops up about low signal. Pressing the button on the mouse or the receiver itself resolves the problem instantly.

Also, I wish the tiltwheel would work without the intellipoint software installed. :|

Microsoft Mouse Replacement

I just checked the EULA and the stated warranty for this mouse is 5 years. So, unless you bought this mouse in 2000 (when it didn't even exist yet), you're qualified to get it replaced. You shouldn't settle for a bum mouse!

Had one, but then one day it died...for no apparent reason. I would reccommend this mouse for everything but gaming, and the range is ok but not good.

If you guys are having trouble with range or movement in your mice, then you have a unit that's not working well. I'd consider returning it and exchanging it for one that works like it should.

I've got 3 of theseon my computers at the house and have no issues with "line-of-sight", which shuld not be an issue since the receiver is RF and doesn't need to be inline with the mouse, and the range is upwards of 6-8 ft. if the receiver is uncovered by paper or other obstacles. Heck, I cannot even see my receiver on my desk....it's currently buried under a mountain of junk (mostly paper) and the mouse still works perfectly.

The scroll wheels vary in stiffness. My wife's is much stiffer in scrolling than mine.....I wanted to replace hers but she likes its feel better than mine, so it stayed.

I've used the MX500 and MX1000, but prefer the fit of the MS to my hand....just personal preference.

About the drivers being buggy.....personally, I've never loaded any drivers from any CD that came with the mice. I don't use the side buttons or the tilt wheel function, so I don't load the CD that comes with the mouse. I've jsut always connected the receiver to USB, "connected" the mouse and receiver, and never had a problem. XP has native drivers that work quite well......but then again, I bought it for its shape, not the "extra" functions that some seem to want. For $15, it's a great mouse.

I've been usin this mouse for ~ 18 months and have experienced none of the problems mentioned aboe. The mouse sits about four feet to left and below the receiver and I have never had a loss of signal. I had to change the batteries at ten months. BTW, the mouse is attached to an 8 port Belkin KVM is used heavily everyday.

Electronic parts do do that occasionally The great thing about MS is it's bad ass mouse replacement policy - fax them the underside of the mouse (serial) plus some shipping info and you'll get a new replacement. I had one outside of the 3 year warranty (or however many years) and I faxed a replacement in for the hell of it. 2 weeks later an Intellimouse Explorer shows up on my doorstep. (It replaced one of the cheapest ball mice MS sold) Kudos to MS :thumbsup:

Got mine at a B&M, it's sweet. I don't play games so I can't comment on how the smooth scroll wheel would do for weapon changing, but it's sooooo nice otherwise. The higher placement of the side buttons is great for me because I'd always accidentally click the buttons on the previous revisions.

The one I got came with the 5.2 drivers as well, which was convenient. I like how you can customize button behavior on a per-application basis.

I like it in every way except that it lags. If you use photoshop or have to do a lot of quick mousing clicking movements, you will know what I am talking about. I now have the MX1000 and I love it. However, if you can't tell it lags, it is a very good mouse.

Just picked up two of these. It wasn't that this deal was so hot I bought two, it was just that I needed a mouse for home and one for work and at $15 I figured I'd chance it. Love the size of the thing. It's big enough to fit my hand which my old optical mouse didn't. Not sure about lag yet, haven't noticed any. From reading these reviews I was expecting it to be noticeable and see ghosting effects and stuff. None of that. For general use I give it a big thumbs up. For gaming, I'll get back to you...

When you have a bunch of crap running that requires a lot of CPU useage... you'll start to notice the lag.
