Bluetooth 2.0
This version is backwards compatible with 1.x. The main enhancement is the introduction of Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) of 2.1 Mbit/s. This has the following effects (Bluetooth SIG, 2004):
* 3 times faster transmission speed (up to 10 times in certain cases).
* Lower power consumption through reduced duty cycle.
* Simplification of multi-link scenarios due to more available bandwidth.
* Further improved BER (Bit error rate) performance.

You can use your Motorola HS850 as a pc headset. To use Skype, for example. If you only use it for your cell phone, you don't need the dongle.Originally posted by: fishbudgreg
Thanks Joemonkey. So if I have a bluetooth capable cell phone (e.g., Motorola E815) and a bluetooth capable headset (e.g., Motorola HS850) which communicate with each other without a need for other devices, can someone give me an example of what this dongle would do for me if the only application I have is cell phone use? My guess is nothing, but I just want to confirm. Thanks again.

Or if you have Moto Mobile Phone Tools (or similar software), you can wirelessly transfer phone number/contact/multimedia info between your phone and desktop/laptop computer. Sure, one could possibly find the proper phone cable for less than many BT dongles...but for those folks who hate wires, this is another way a BT dongle can be used.
