Total Amount: $6.56 USD SHIPPED

Got one! This is pretty cheap considering comparable models at Walmart sell for about 3x this amount. We'll see the quality though...

Thanks joker

Just as an FYI, that site has like 4 or 5 other FM transmitor models to chose from, so look around and you'll see others. I have no clue which would be the best though, they're all about the same price, or in the $4-7 range.

Haven't experienced this specific unit but recently bought a battery powered FM transmitter. The Belkin I bought is really not usable. I thought I'd use it to pump DVD player into car stereo. The cross channel noise was pretty miserable.

Again YMMV.

Howdy All,

For those of you that purchased one how are they running? I just bought a iConcepts wireless and am wondering if I would be better off with this one because it does not need batteries?
Thanks for the info

I've been looking for one for a while.

I wanted something with a wide range of tunable frequencies and good frequency response - maybe this one, or perhaps this one?

The biggest complaint I've heard with these things in general is getting a consistently clear signal with no interference from other stations. I was going to get a Belkin Tunecast II, but I'm just not sure.

Thoughts/comments anyone?
(thanks OP)

For those who bought this, is the quality decent enough? Is there too much static? Does it all just depend on the competing radio station frequencies?

I agree tape adapter usually better sound, no interference and cheaper. I have an fm xmitter that runs off the cig adapter that can also power my mp3 player. It has an analog tuner so I can get to any fm channel. It was $20 at frys 2 or 3 yrs ago. It works but both it and my location can drift so I need to adjust freq periodically.
The unit mentioned above doesnt seem to power the unit and has limited freq you can tune to.
My unit was fun because my early mp3 player really sucked batteries so I plugged it into the car and was able to listen to my own pirate radio all week over our three campsites in yosemite. I used my fm walkman to listen while going to sleep the other campsite tuned in a boombox during dinner and I used a handcrank fm rado for our campsite. Id say for $10 give it a try.

Best advice I can give to you folks getting into these FM transmitters is that removing the antenna from your car will be the best move you can make.

I have the 17.99 model from Walmart which only has 4 frequencies available and most of those were taken in the local area.

After unscrewing the antenna on the car all was well and you pick up less (if any at all) interference from power lines etc which happened with the antenna screwed in.

I'd recommend against these FM transmitters - I went through a whole load of them before eventually giving up. Just too much interference to get a clean signal in my explorer.

Best option if available is plug directly into an auxiliary line in on your head unit. If there isn't one, then a tape adaptor would work well. If you don't have a tape slot, then it starts getting tricky...

If your unit has a CD changer interface (that you're not using), then you can get box to plug into that which turns it into an aux line in. If this isn't available (as in my case where you have an in dash cd changer) then your best bet is a hard wired modulator, rather than one that transmits.

Get one with a switch to let you change between it and your antenna to reduce any chance for interferrence. I got one including fitting from a local Circuit City for $105. A lot more expensive than the above units, but it actually works, and gives me a really good clean signal. Can't tell the difference quality wise between it and my cd player.

i've gone through 3 different brands of these (all costing close to 10x as much), never this unit though and they all pretty much suck.

depending on where you live and what radio station you get will affect the quality. the 1st oen i got had a wire and only 3 channels you could use. after awhile the wire that connected to the unit broke. then i got a itrip( this was all used with an ipod). no wires, no batteries, but still not very good quality. i then got a belkin brand similar to my 1st one and the same thing happened with the wire. sent it back and got it replaced and haven't used it since.

also, the ones with cigarette lighter power cords are better because the batteries don't provide enough juice.

i'd be really surprised if it works ok or even at all
