Bought this card a tad over a month ago and just installed it the other day. Runs good but most importantly it is $40 cheaper. Sucks, should have waited.

Nice! Sure the 770GTX performs better, but at this price and 3 free games this is almost a no-brainer for most of us on single monitors below 30".

This model has really loud coil whine. Just a friendly warning to those with sensitive ears. Great card. Mine came with a 59.1% ASIC but did 1200mhz at 1.25v.

Mine doesn't whine unless you're stressing it. It is loud, louder than anything in my case. Took me 4 weeks to sell the games for $30 on ebay.

The GTX 770 and 7970GHz actually perform within 1-3% of each other or close enough to call it even. Of course one is $440 (4GB version) and the MSI is $270 so as you said it is a no-brainer.

Pretty much the same. GTX 770 is 4% faster at 1920x1080 and HD 7970 GHz is 1% faster at 2560x1600.

I picked one of these up at launch and still consider it one of the best video card purchases ever. At this price its an awesome deal, hopefully they aren't about to release something new.

I've been watching this deal. Very tempting. Thinking of upgrading from my 6950 to this for BF4. Can get $100+ for my 6950 on Ebay. Don't know if I should wait for the new AMD cards...

if your screen is 1920 by 1080 this card should be good enough

I've got three screens at 1920 x 1080 but rarely run eyefinity and usually just game on the single center monitor.

I know it'll be enough, but my 6950 is actually doing OK during the beta too.

All the cards like this that have been on sale are only 1 dvi.
That sucks.
I hate to ask but what does an adapter cost to run dual dvi ?

one other question, when the Asus was on sale, other boards were saying well its 3 slot and won't run 2560, reported problem with this model, if you want asus get a top.

I'm thinking of buying this, but how will it compare to the 280X? I heard they are mostly the same card, but I'm not sure about pricing or if the game bundles will be updated.

I just upgraded to a Dell U2713HM 2560x1440 and I now need to upgrade my GTX 560Ti.

Don't get the problem. If it's anything like my reference Diamond 7970, it comes with a HDMI -> DVI dongle.
That said, if you want more devices that need a TMDS clock, then you'll need to shell out (~$20) for an active mini/DP -> DVI adapter. Again, my reference 7970 came with one.

It comes with several adapters including the HDMI > DVI. Resolution, however, for my 3007WFP only goes up to 1280x800, not the 1080p.

This promo is still active. I would also point out a similar deal with the triple slot Asus 7970 (which also has dual DVI outputs):

Asus HD7970-DC2-3GD5 $272.30 shipped, AR. The only high performing card that beats this bang for buck is a 7950.

I've ordered the MSI 7970, but there is lots of feedback saying that the fans on the MSI card are pretty loud. Lots of coil whine. I don't intend to use Crossfire, so does anyone think the Asus card will be quieter than the MSI one?

Coilwhine is only noticable in gaming for that card.

Are these the price drops you guys were expecting from the new product announcements or are those probably yet to come?

.

Ryan's article answered my question. The 280X won't initially have any games bundled, so it seems this 7970 deal is the one to get.

I just ordered it. The 7% discount expired, so I used the AFFW103B 4% discount. Just a warning, it gave me a low stock warning when I added it to my shopping cart. I tried again and it worked, so not sure how many are left.

I just ordered the ASUS after I saw your post. Order Total $292.28
(After: + 7% off w/ promo code HCWPISQ55, ends 10/10)

Not sure how their servers work, or maybe you were talking about the MSI?

It is 309.99 - 21.70 with the 7% coupon, and then a $20 MIR. Total should be 268.29 before tax, shipping, etc.
