Staples regular price here is $499.98, before a $50 rebate available here.

A fairly unknown company, Mstar is selling the same LCD (in white) here for $410 with free shipping (but no rebate).

I just called in my order, and after waiting for them to research the pricematch claim, they agreed to PM the Mstar price. My total before tax became $401.00. On top of that, now I'll be able to send in the $50 rebate, for a total of $351.00 before tax. Also, since the Mstar website proclaims "FREE SHIPPING!!!", you shouldn't be charged any shipping by Staples.

Now, I realize there a few different ways this deal could go...

1) They PM the amount as they did for me.

2) They PM, but only to the amount that will total $410 AFTER the Staples rebate.

or

3) They deny the PM on a technicality such as the bezel color (white vs. black).

Anyhoo, best of luck to ya, and if you don't know anything about this LCD, Tom's Hardware has a quick write-up here. It has a 16ms response time, only has an analog connection, and supposedly has the same LCD in it as the acclaimed Hitachi CML174SXW. Methinks not too shabby...

EDIT: It's been pointed out to me that I overlooked the use of a Staples coupon, so this deal could get even HOTTER. I just called in and used a $30 off $150 coupon to get my pre-tax, after rebate total to $321.00!!!

Must resist the urge to buy. I need to pay for my summer tuition. I hate school. I'd jump otherwise.

FWIW, I was having the same problem getting past the stigma of having "just a analog connection". Beyond saving a bunch of money over the 1760NX (which is the same panel, but with a height-adjustable base and DVI inputs), here's some direct quotes from Tom's HW:

VGA or DVI?

Theoretically, it's best to plug a monitor into the DVI of the video card if it has one. This means the card does not have to convert the signal to analog, an operation always likely to cause loss. But actually, these days, converters are excellent and there is no noticeable difference between the interfaces. So make the choice that fits your wallet. There is usually a price difference of about $100 between a DVI and a D-Sub monitor, so you will most likely find it better to settle for analog.

When plugged into the analog input of the video card (there is no DVI), this monitor amazes with its bright, satisfying and pleasing colors. So everyone is entranced again and exclaims that there is really no future for the CRT, etc. Yet you can't help feeling you've been here before: the colors are lovely, but they clog a bit in dark tones. Compared to the display you get on the Iiyama AS4314UTG, images on the 1760V lack detail in the shady parts (photos, games, test charts). Still, the colors are lovely on the whole, radiant even, and make it seem as if the Iiyama has a slight haze on it.

For further details on this monitor, you can go back and read the article on the Hitachi monitor. Everything we said there applies to the 1760V, except for the DVI on the CML174SXW: the 1760V just doesn't have one. But since we didn't like it a lot on the Hitachi, this is no great loss!

Apparently, on the Hitachi there were some real issues with the number of colors and accuracy of colors displayed, but only when using the DVI connection. When using the analog connection, they rated the color displayed/accuracy a "4 out of 5". Just FYI...

Update: Got mine on Thursday, and it's B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! If I have any complaint, it's that the factory default brightness (100%) is a bit too bright on office-type apps (the whites are REALLY bright). Cutting the brightness back to 50% makes the display much easier on the eyes and yields no noticable negative differences in games like UT2003.

I'm very pleased with this nifty 17" display.

I can't seem to find this mystical 50 off 200 coupon that I keep hearing about. Not a current one anyway. I'd sell my 21" trinitron in a heartbeat if I could find that coupon code...

I just picked two of these up at my local store and I must say that they are pretty spectacular for the price.

Interesting too is that the register printed out two different rebates for each monitor (four in total).

One rebate is #03-55880 for $50 and goes to Staples in Miami to box #028515. The second rebate is also for $50 and goes to NEC to mailbox 2003030. I called Staples CS and was told that both are valid and as before, send the original UPC to NEC and the copy to Staples in order to receive both rebates.

After a valid $30 coupon, $130 in Business Rewards, sales tax, and (hopefully) both $50 rebates my final cost will be $253.56. At this price I didn't even bother to go to the effort to price match.

Did anyone else get two different $50 rebates?

NYC Staples have these LCDs on clearance for $449.99

$449.99 - 12% Staples National Advantage coupon = $386.99
$386.99 - $50 Staples Rebate -$50 NEC Rebate = $286

YMMV outside NYC.
Staples is clearing out alot of stuff here in Manhattan. Picked up a 2Wire Router for $10, a HP 500VA UPS for $10, and a Kensiko scroll USB mouse for $1
