Dude, that's not true. Our stores are just much better than the other retailers when clearing out products before they become clearance.

Found a Proview 17" LCD in the Minneapolis store (display model). $270 and tax out the door.

Not as good as the Nec, but, an OK deal.

BTW - the guy in the store looked up inventory levels for the Minnesota stores and it came up zilch.

I just got the moniter. Not a single dead pixel, the top of the screen seems to have a reddish tint. Just playing ut2k4 and no ghosting at all.

and I know that its a good deal, but it bugs me a lot. everytime I use my computer I will think about the pixel that stays on. I know its stupid, but thats the way I am.

Only advertisment i saw was a blue piece of paper tacked to a cork board inside the doors at OM, said while supplies last. Only chance of PM would be if it was in stock at your local OM, which isn't likely.

Also, when i was at CC looking at this monitor (after OOS at OM), the CC employee said the NEC rep was in the other day and said the new models would be out soon. I guess they won't have that "protective cover" across the screen anymore, and response time is to be 12ms. I only mention this b/c if a new model is on it's way, other stores such as CC might have some of these monitors on clearance in the near future.

I have a question regarding the lcd monitor.

If you look at the picture of the monitor on the box, the hinge that connects to the base is pretty high up (45+ degrees).

Now when I was setting mine up, I have it around 30 degrees. When the monitor is tilted perpendicular to the surface, it is just barely over half an inch above the table. In the picture on the box, the monitor is a good 2 and a half+ inches above the table.

Is the hinge just that stubborn? I tried exerting a little more force than normal but it won't budge anymore higher. I don't want to break anything, but should I just apply a lot more force to get it to move? It feels like the hinge is gunna snap if I do.

Even the Manual's Quick Setup Guide didn't show a diagram like the picture. =/

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Damnit, I paid about $500 for this monitor a month or two ago. I'm gonna double check the date, in case its inside 30 days (that's the PM period for BB right?), but I'm pretty sure I've had it closer to 2 months.
