I called up my local Best Buy and they said that the rebate wasn't showing in their computer system. I called up another BB and they said that the rebate isn't in their system but that it would print out at the register, didn't matter which BB I bought it at.

Apparently this deal is a price reaction to Circuit City but don't bother trying to PM here to $20 since CC isn't supposed to PM after rebates, nor when the competitor is OOS.

Now I'm wondering why this router is OOS at so many BBs even though it just went on sale today?

CC will PM after rebates if the item is in the ads, but sadly, this is not the case. ANyway, i'm going to my local BB tomorrow to see if they have any left...

I got one from the Amazon deal a couple of weeks ago. Super router, very easy to set up (both wired and wireless sides).

One thing the instructions fail to mention: If you have been using the laptop with a wired network port and then install the wireless NIC, you MUST run WINIPCFG (from the start/run menu), then click on RELEASE ALL, then RESTORE ALL. You must do this with the wired NIC cable disconected and the wireless NIC card installed with drivers, and within range of the router.

Should I really get this... I mean really... I want to get a nice little wireless network sometime, but how long before the A and G spec stuff falls to this price? I prefer the faster speed, but having a wireless stuff for cheap now is just cool... I've got 4 remaining where I live.

I dont think I'd buy one of these to store away. By the time you're ready, you're gonna want 54Mb. This thing doesn't even do22 Mb, so it's really on the outgoing end... Kinda like buying a Pentium 550. Cheap, and functional, but not much future. I'm waiting to score a card to use with mine, so I figured it worked for me because I want to get wireless NOW, but dont know how long it's gonna last.
I think I got the last one from Southfield, MI, BTW.

If you are doing lots of heavy file transfers internally on your network, then you have something to bitch about.

If you are doing basic networking, and connecting to the internet via standard broadband, then this router is overkill alone.
