749.95-100(instant rebate from photoalley.com) = 650.00 * 80% = 519.96(MSN instant rebate) * 95%(5% ebates discount*) = 482.46 - 150.00 (Nikon mfr rebate) = 332.46!!!

That is a smokn' deal!!!! Good job Mikebill

No sh*t. So you only need about 470.00 up front? But what's Microsoft's incentive for the 20%? Are there any other commitments?

O.K., worst case: 749.95-100(instant rebate from photoalley.com) = 650.00 * 80% = 519.96(MSN instant rebate) * 95%(5% ebates discount*) = 482.46 - 150.00 (Nikon mfr rebate) = 332.46!!!

*(add 5.00 to total if ebates for some reason wants to calculate from 650.00)

ebates calculates the rebate with the original price, regardless of coupon and discounts --at least they did so in my last buy.com purchase. so I guess the rebate will be $750*5%.

usb or serial connection doesn't matter --you'll need a card reader anyway, which doesn't cost much.

what do you need the card reader for? You mean you can't just plug the camera into the pc? This would be my first digital camera so I don't really know much about connectivity. Thanks for any help.

do you mean a card reader like the one that came with my amex blue card? How would that work with a digital camera?

Hey broadwayblue
Just go to computers4sure.com and buy a Lexar 16MB USB enabled compact flash card w/Jumpshot cable for 28.99 + 5.50 shipping less $20.00 rebate and you have your USB transfer setup, and 16 MB card for $14.49 delivered.

Also
Anyone having a problem getting past the pastport login screen on photoalley when going through ebates? Mine accepts the login but then I just get a blank screen with ebates banner on top.

Street price for this camera seems to be around $530 - $150 rebate = $380, so $344 shipped is a very good deal but probably not something people should jump on unless they're already looking for a digital camera in this class

well if you use a card reader(two formats for CF and smartmedia), you won't consume the battery power when downloading pic to the computer. you just take the memory card off the cam, plug into the reader...
the reader's price varies --I got a Sandisk from Amazon, around $23 and I used $20 GC,
You may get one between 10-20 bucks...depending on what deals you may find.

as for the error page from ebates, it happened when you login into the passport purchase.
so first log in at passport site, then go to ebates ---it works this way!

Dantzig: Street price of $530? Where do you see that -- the lowest I can find on shopper or pricegrabber is $530, but that price INCLUDES the $150 rebate, so it's really $680.

Anyone went thru the MSN passport? I choose this option and got "There was a problem processing your order" message. When I pressed the Back button and submitted it again, it said "The order has already been created" and got a reference number. Anyone got the same infomation?

Yes I'm getting the same "Probelm with your Order" message. I called customer service and they're pretty useless...no one seems to be able to look it up. They claim it's an issue with MSN's link but that seems unlikely since the wallet filled in the blanks just fine. I use different billing and shipping addresses, both of which are on file with my credit card company, but maybe it's a security feature kicking in on their end. Bottom line is they said it would take a couple hours for the info to show up in their system so I'd have to call back later. Cheezy.

Sybren - If those prices are including the $150 rebate already, then this is a flaming hot deal! I didn't investigate any farther than just checking pricewatch and pricegrabber. I guess I'll check out what c|net says about this camera. I may just have to buy one myself even though I shouldn't because I just bought a 1GHz TBird and Asus A7V last night

DANGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WILL ROBINSON.

Just got off the phone with CS. There's a problem with link from MSN and PhotoAlley, If all you got was a reference number, your order wasn'r placed and your Credit card will not be billed or order shipped. They advised to start the process again.............Not best showing for my first experience with them.
