it's not Creative's problem but Hitachi's since it is Hitachi that wants to also make money selling the 4gb microdrives individually for $400+. I agree that Creative does not really give a rats butt if you buy to grab a cheap drive but I guess as long as you all don't start breaking them while grabbing the drive and trying to claim false warranties

To me, this deal seems VERY HOT ...why then is this thread not up to 8 pages by now with people celebrating the cheap price of an mp3 player that rivals the ipod mini (which seels for $250.00+) ??

That's because some gullible people give rat's a$$ about the quality of this MP3 player. All they want is to yank the drive out and make a quick buck.

Well, is that deal still available? I went to Creative web site, and it is out of stock

I do not have any reason to take the hard drive out because I do not have any other devices that need it. It will be a very nice bday gift for my girlfriend

2, how do you ensure you're buying a removable movo2? are there any serial or model #'s to lookout for?

I posted three (what I thought were) very good deals on HD-based MP3 player, but there was no interest whatsoever. I do not know if most people around here are already loaded with MP3 players and are not in the market, or if many are students an do not have enough disposable income on a close to $200 leisure item, or this board is going down the drain . I guess Creative's and other manufacturers' marketing folks should take a note.

In any case, I had recently purchased a 40 GB Creative Zen Xtra at a great price but had to return it as i was disappointed by its sound quality, battery life and performance. Because Dell DJ is also made by Creative and appears to be a very close relative of Zen, I decided to bypass it too.

Can anybody comment on MuVo2's sound quality?

Can anybody comment on MuVo2's sound quality?

I am using one of the prior versions (removed the drive and replaced with 512 sandisk cf) and it sounds great! I have compared side by side with 3rd gen ipod and the Iriver H-140 and the muvo is much better than the ipod, and indistinguishable from the iriver (i use sony fontopia 51's). The muvo beats the the ipod in battery life (could be because of the cf instead of hd), didn't test the iriver. Personally I hate the controls (buttons too small) but this thing works great as a usb drive, I no longer carry my minicruzer, just plug it in and voila' shows up in xp as another drive, just drag and drop. I cannot reccomend the software that come with it, (i dont' use it, uninstalled it quick). It is just more Bloatware from creative. IMO the best value if you don't have to have 4gb with you all the time is to pick up one of these empty on ebay for ~40 then a 1gb cf card for ~100 and for less than 150 you have a solid state mp3/usb drive without moving parts, a lot less chance of getting damaged.

I have the new MUVO version 2
It says version 2 right on the unit.

Can this 4gig microdrive be ripped out to use in the Sony 8megapix cam?

thanks!

Do you have the DSC-F828, if so it is compatible with microdrives and the new muvo2 still has a microdrive inside, though its ATA compatible only. Should work, IMHO.

I have absolutely no idea what will and won't work in various cams and surely the poster quoted above know much more about than I do, but at the very bottom of the description given it clearly states it will not work in cameras that take compact flash (maybe flash 2) drives, if that matters.

well, I have the old muvo2 and the microdrive works in my dsc-f828. If anyone has the new microdrive out and is close to MD, VA area, I would be happy to test it out in my dsc-f828 and report the findings.

Creative is selling again, but for most of us, you will be charged for $12.50 tax So after all, you aren't really saving much...

like the ipod and and mp3 player with mass storage, you're suppose to be able to see the player itself like a physical external drive on your computer. doesnt necessarily mean you can remove the hd/cf card and use otherwise.

I posted that deal here. but I don't think ppl are interesting. Can we use the Muvo as an external drive?

Thanks, but I was posting my message in response to the above question agreeing that you can use it as external drive.
