No its not the same. Its not the same at all. The gold overclocks to around 280-290mhz or so. The xtc hardly ocs at all.
The xtc has tighter stock timings as well. Its definitely different.

Most reviewers get hand-picked memory from the manufacturer. The reviews that you provided back-up my claims that the first batches of Samsung UCCC overclocked really well while later batches weren't so hot. The OCZ Gold review was in Oct 05 while the other two were in Dec 05. Currently, an individual over at xtremesystems just picked up a pair of GSkill Samsung UCCC and has been able to reach 280mhz @ only 2.6v with limited testing. If you check out the xtremesystems forums, you'll see people constantly buying/testing ram. That's where you can follow the overclocking of ic's from batch to batch over time.Originally posted by: modempower
The rebate is from OCZ not monarch.
The Corsair PC4000 uses samsung uccc chips as well.
All I know is, in the benchmarks ive seen, the gold overclocks far better than the xtc.

Both the OCZ XTC and Gold both use Samsung UCCC chips using the same Brainpower pcb. The differences between the two is that the XTC have been tested to provide 3-4-3-8 timings @ 2.75v compared to 3-4-4-8 @ 2.8v for the Gold. And XTC has the honeycomb heatspreaders compared to the copper that the Gold use.

WTF?? :|
It seems that this kind of thing always happens in OUTPOST. I should call first to make sure that the rebate form is the right one before making a purchase. Oh, well. By the time I put an order, they will cancel mine for a good reason. I will cross my fingers on this.

Correct. Based on the manufacturing date, all of the memory should perform as well as the others of the same batch/date.Originally posted by: modempower
I see. So basically youre saying the gold is going to crapout probably just as much as the xtc.
