I got Elixir as well. Putting together my new system this weekend.

I have not ever had a problem with Office Depot rebates getting rejected because I bought on-line.
I have done about 5 online purchases at OD w/ rebate, and they all came just fine.

Got mine in the mail today. Elixir chips. The UPC code & order# are a match with the rebate form. For the rebate, what constitutes the 'receipt' from an online purchase? I have a copy of the page before my order was submitted (with all the details) and a copy of the final page after my order was submitted (which has fewer details but does include the order#, delivery date and the price). I also now have the invoice, which has all the details. What will be accepted as a receipt?

I bought one earlier today that had the Elixer chips, but I went back and swapped for the only one with Infineon chips. NOT too sure of the difference though? I only swapped after I read your post?!?

Anyway, thanks for the heads up. My online price was $64.99, so I opted to buy instore (for the same price) and used a printed $15 of $50 coupon. My total came to $28.74 with the rebate. No CC to pricematch with in my area. Still a great buy!!

I've sent in the invoice a few times (when not issued a real receipt) and the rebate came through just fine.

Just got mine delivered today in SoCal, and my chips are Infineon. After reading through this whole thread I still have no idea which brand of chip is better and why, but it's nice to have a spare chip.

OD websites are designed not to report availability when the local stores have fewer than 5 in stock. That means your local OD may still have them. I just got the last one over Fremont, CA.

Call your local OD and ask for it then call their 800 number to order and use the coupon. Tell them u want to pick it up at the store u found. Don't order thru website.

WooT...picked two up last night. $34 for two after taxes and rebates.

Called local store to check stock, yes they have some and will match CC $54.99 adv price. Hung up and called 1-888-godepot.
CSR said they don't do CC match. He asks mngr...nope. So I say ok I will get it anyway, then I say o I have a coupon... and pause hmmm were is that. LOL so finally he gets impatient and feels bad so he gives me the PM. Oooo here is the coupon code. rotflol. O and I want to pick that up at my local store.

After I get to the store I seen they had another one...picked a nice lady to ring me up and said I have one to pick up and I would like to do this second one the same way but pay cash. No problem here you go. The best part was when she couldnt get the price to match the pick up and i said that is cause the tax is off the final price not before the coupon and she thanked me for pointing that out.

Got my elixir chip today and installed it. I really can't tell a difference in my overall computer speed. Is there anything special I'm supposed to do after inserting the new chip?

Elixir chips are made by Taiwan Semiconductor, Infineon is a division of Siemens. Infineons are used in Mushkin high performance memory, and Crucial also uses their chips sometimes. Elixirs are used by nobody (PNY doesn't really count). My roommate got 2 sticks of PNYs from BB w/ Elixirs, and one was a complete dud on normal RAM timings. The 7ns Infineon chips on my stick are rated at CL2 @ 133MHz and CL2.5 @ 143MHz. The memory tests fine at that speed, but something else is holding me back. Whatever.

Good RAM is essential if you're o/c'ing, but otherwise, it's just good to have quality RAM for the sake of system stability.

unclebud Yeah seperate reciepts. She just used the phone in order as an example for the cash order.

FYI: when i do a system info in Motheboard Monitor it shows that my elixer chips are >> Manufacturer - Name : Nanya Technology. I thought Nanya was pretty good but I don't remember. Keep in mind guys that as with ALL types of products, private labeling occurs. That means that these sticks "could" have been manufactured in the same batch that are labled something else entirely and that cost much more. That being said this will not find a home in my game machine, have cas 2 good stuff for that, but I am perfectly happy to put them in normal use boxes. I mean, come on $17 per stick.. I will take that chance on a non mission criticle box.

acenuts Just call it in as so many have suggested. Tell them you want to p/u in store then. That way even if you can't find a printable one you can jump in and you don't take the chance of having a non origial coupon rejected.

Although we can't link to it, I found my printable one in an OD coupon thread on F@twallet. Although I called in and did a p/u.
