I bit on this deal about a week ago and ordered. My order came yesterday, and guess what was in the box. A shiny new PNY 256MB PC133 SDRAM DIMM. So I called customer support and the dweeb that pulled my order screwed up. I ordered right and was billed right but the CSR I talked to had a packing slip that showed the wrong item. There's a smart one. 1)Look at order for DDR 2)Pull SDRAM 3)mark SDRAM on packing slip 4) ship out. Yeah.

As least OD is going to let me exchange it, but the replacement won't get here for another week. And they waived shipping charges on the replacement.

My first (and likely only) purchase from OD.

<edit>7/29/02 -- This will be my last purchase from OD. Looks like it was all a slick way to get out of honoring the $15 off coupon (which didn't get me free s/h anyway). The replacement came today and they charged me for full price on it. How quaint. In stead of a $28.64 stick, I'll end up with a $38.17 stick. Assuming, that is, the stinkin rebates will actually come through. So much for this deal beating the Best Buy offer.</edit>

Got one in the SF Bay Area...asked them to PM CC @ $54.99...they did...used $15 off $50 coupon to make the final total w/tax, $43+. Rebate printed out, making the final cost about $18+. Not bad for DDR...it is Elixir chip, but I don't care for $18.

I picked up 2 Samsung sticks. These are supposed to be good, right? One is 4-chip, and one is 8 chip. Would they work together OK?

Anyone know can I use Staples in-store coupon (came in email) in OfficeDepot B&M? Because I saw a Kingston PC2100 DDR at the same price after rebate, but the clerk won't let me use the $15 off $50 print out. Kingston might be a better brand than PNY....., right?

FYI - I just (11:00 pm Friday) bought one, the rebate ends tomorrow. They are still aparently available online - I tried Tuesday and they said they were out of stock. A friend got one earlier this week, received it the day after placing the order. It has Elixir chips.

How about buying the PNY 256 DDR Samsung's at BestBuy, and using that receipt to return the Infineon/Elixir/Spectec/Mosel-Vitalic since they all have the same upc code. This is if you haven't opened your plastic shell.

Did just that!!
I was in Montgomery, AL today and visited a OD store there. I PM'd CC for $54.99 and applied a $15 off $50 coupon. With the $25 rebate, my total comes to $14.99 + tax = $18.20

Got Infineon chips... guess I'll take back the one from my local OD, or can I PM with the Montgomery OD??

Thanks for a great deal guys!!

Just call it in and tell them you want to p/u in store. Then you can easily find a coupon code and you dont have to worry about them rejecting a "copy" of a coupon. This has been mentioned at least 4 times in this thread and it has went very smoothly for those that have done it this way including myself.

Thanks hot deals forum. Got mine today (last day on rebate)--snagged the last stick. The nice CS rep in the store said the coupon was for internet only, but she just made a price adjustment, so I am only $19.99 AR lighter.

Got infeneon too

Plz, help, there's no stop the senseless upgrading!

I did even better! My OD had a regular price of $64.99 instead of $74.99 and the manager didn't give me the smallest hassle about appling the instant rebate to the lower starting price. So....65-15IR-15coupon-25MR=10 bucks. I am so proud of myself! Now I just gotta get me a DDR board.

Mine was Infeneon (sp?). I placed order online on 7/21, delivered from a warehouse in Michigan, I believe.

Good evening, did this deal and I got Infineon, although it looks weird, has only 4 chips on one side and another 4 on the other side. All my ddr come with 8 chips on each side. What is the deal with this one?

The Infineon chips used on your memory module have twice the storage space, so only half the number of chips needed to be used for the same amount of total memory for the module. It is a good thing.

Good evening, running my chips at just 133 fsb brings errors with memtest. I don't think these are good chips.

I got in on this deal too. I got a stick with Infineon chip #HYB250256800AT-7 chips on it. Four chips per side. I am having problems with it on my Leadtek 7350KDA motherboard. This motherboard works fine with Crucial 256 stick but locks up with the PNY stick in it. All setting are back to stock and the PNY memory does not want to play along. Put the Crucial back in and the computer works fine. The Leadtek 7350KDA board is known to be picky on memory. I may have to just save this PNY memory for another system or sale it.

The k7s5a had a lot of problems with mem errors, so it might not be the ram's fault.
