I just popped into the Lynnwood store today and they were pretty much cleaned out of most all the clearnace electronics. They syill had a lot of DVD media. I picked up two 50-count spindles of HP 8X DVD+R disks for $3.50 each (which ought to take care of my DVD media needs to the rest of the decade). They still had a lot of printer demo units 50% off, if anyone is looking for one. I might swing by the last day they are open and see if there are any last minute deals on the printers.

Also, the Lynnwood store isn't open regular store hours anymore, but is instead closing at 6PM on weekdays.

Saved me a trip. Funny how we had an Office Depot open around the same time as Office Max. Then OD closed. Then they built a new OD, and now OM is closing. I wonder if something cool will take over the store, though it would be nice if they just expanded Borders into something much larger.

Stopped by the Muncie, IN store today and it had a big flyer in the window announcing the store is closing. I asked the manager if there were going to be any sales and he said not that he was aware of. I then asked him when the store was scheduled to be closed and he said he had no idea. Hmmm..unless I'm mistaken in my logic store closing = loss of job (at least at that location) yet you have no clue when. Doesn't make sense to me.
Anyway they had the Sony DVD burner on clearance for $90. I figured I'd take it to the cashier just to see what it would ring up for and it rang up at $74.
I plan on going back Friday to see if anything has changed, but I have a feeling no deals for me

As a former OfficeMax employee, I have to say that this is about normal for the store management. They usually are kept in the dark about everything. My favorite instance was when I brought in an ad scan of the Black Friday deals that was posted here so we would know what was on sale for Black Friday and could start making preparations. The corporate office had withheld the Black Friday fliers from even the store managers until the very last minute because they "didn't want our competition to know what we were doing," even though the ad scan was already out on the net. So it really isn't all that unusual for us here in AT HD to know more than the actual store managers do about what is going on.

Checked the Houston store on 1960. It's the only one closing in Houston.

While I didn't look at furniture, I saw nothing special in terms of deals, and no willingness of the staff to help. A cashier told me there were no particular rules, that the markdowns on everything were different -- and not effective until the personnel actually got around to LABELING the merchandise with yellow tags. As of yesterday, the few things labeled were maybe 20% off, if that.

Don't waste your time in this store -- yet, unless you have alot of time to kill.

Actually, the store in Springfield, Pa. is turning over their remaining inventory to liquidators who will run one of those phony, bogus 80% off inflated prices sale.

The 5-subject notebooks were 9.50+ with a 30% off sale last week and a 40% off this week.
The same notebook at Wallyworld was about 4.50. The cheap paper is regular price, some of the pens were, but I believe that some things are priced higher this week than last. I cannot be sure, but I have a hard time buying anything there. I am glad that it is closing.
