I preordered a 146 from Tankguys for $169, and it shipped tonight.
Check the site in the morning to see if there are any 146's left, as I'm sure any remaining ones he might have will go fast.
excellent congrats, i was afraid to wait...still haven't o/ced mine yet but it is running very nice. @ stock it is faster than my p4 @ 3GHz is at most, except some encoding, but the amount of heat it puts off is much less. about the same time i ordered the m/b & cpu, my crt died so i replaced it with a 17" lcd, so my computer room temp went down about 5F and i am sure i am saving at least 50W when the computer is running @ 100%. the amd power tool is pretty cool, slows it down and drops the power and you never notice it.
I definitely thought about getting a 144, but there were several factors that told me I "needed" the 10x multiplier.
I'm most likely going to put this in the ASrock Dual SATA2 board (still haven't actually purchased a MB yet though). I only have Value RAM that doesn't really go ever 210 stable, and I plan to use stock cooling.
So with all those factors, if I want to reach at least 2.6 stable, the 10x multiplier will make it that much easier.
The best thing for me ist that I'm not in a big hurry. Actually, I stil need a case, PSU, and MB before I will even start his build. So waiting on the 146 was not a big deal for me.
Bob, defintitely let us know how well you combo OC's. From all there reading I've done in that last 2 weeks or so, the majority of recently purchased 144's are OC'ing up tp 2.7 (with a good MB and RAM) on Vcore of no more than 1.5 and air cooling. A few have actually reached 3.0 on a 144, although I doubt it stable. Good luck!
