NewEgg (first time I've ever seen them out and out gouge people...shameful).

You just noticed? They've been price gouging at least since the 8800 GT era, when they rode the wave of demand and helped drive prices well over $300 on what was supposedly a $250 part.

$249 shipped is a pretth decent deal, too bad Amazon is OOS. Now, notice that they list Tiger Direct at $299. However, go directly to Tiger Direct instead of through Amazon and it is $255 (with free shipping). Even better is to go through Bing cashback and get it for the same price, but with 12.5% cashback!

OT: Engineer and Zap - I have a new 18.4" HP lappy from the earlier Hot Deal. Of coarse it has Win7 on a 320gb. I want to do a fresh install on a new ssd. I don't want to Image it since I want rid of the HP recovery partition.

Will I have a problem with my Win7 code on the fresh re-install??

Thanks guys, and Happy Holidays!

I'm not 100% sure but I wouldn't think so. Just keep the 320GB drive intact until you get the SSD installed. Even if it would not activate initially, a call to MS should solve the issue since it's on the original PC sold (with new drive).

Merry Christmas to you too!

You shouldn't have a problem. I'm not sure if the Intel G2 SSDs ship with trim enabled - might be a firmware update.

Win7 should support trim and also "recognize" SSDs so it should partition with the proper offset.

I caved! I went the zap route above. Bing shows 8%, unless I searched "Tiger Direct" ....then I got 12.8% and Dec 24-25 you get $10 back if you checkout with Paypal. Also Free shipping like Zap said.

$254.99 - 42.64 = $212.35 delivered

Pretty damn good right now. If the PayPal $10 had been available, I might have went the Intel route instead of the OCZ. I've got the OCZ 120MB unit sitting here and will be building the Core I5 system this weekend (hopefully).

One is OEM ($254)...the other is a retail kit that includes the 2.5 to 3.5" brackets ($299).

Is model SSDSA2MH080G2C1 the OEM version engineer?

Intel lists like 5 80GB drives here and I'm really confused which is Gen 2

http://www.intel.com/cd/channel/reseller/apac/eng/products/nand/feature/index.htm

Also - OP, depending how Engineer answers the SSDSA2MH080G2C1 can be had
for $216.40 here with 5% BING http://www.thegreatguys.com/servlet...=64461962&zmas=1&zmac=18&zmap=SSDSA2MH080G2C1

Yes, it's OEM (C1 bolded above). The retail models end in R5 (IIRC). The G2 = Generation 2 drive.

By the way, The Great Guys (your link) only has a 5.71 out of 10 lifetime rating on Resellerratings.com.

OK cool so all those are just different thicknesses or retail but all Gen 2 with G2 in name... Ouch on RR:hmm: Guess I'll keep looking - Thanks

I'm just going to pull trigger on 'great guys' can't get PP $10 off nor 12.5% bing to work - that's what credit cards are for, right?

Good luck. Does your credit card have the ability to generate a one time use number?

LOL Never-mind that place not only has 5.71 hardly any reviews in last year - a low volume drop shipper is my guess. Still looking..

Thank you SIR! I got it, finally - it was adblock in FireFox stopping me from seeing the 12.5%..

Are you ordering the $299 or the $254 from Tiger Direct? I can't find the OEM ($254) on their website.

If you add the item to cart, you'd notice "The Great Guys" is charging $47 for Standard 3-5 shipping. A place to avoid methinks.

They bumped Bing cash back to 15% but raised their prices in the process!

The OEM drive is showing as out of stock, that's the one that was selling for $254. If it comes back in stock while BCB is at 15% and the $25 off for eBillMe is active, I'm going to jump on it. Otherwise I'll wait for the next great SSD deal.

amazon has had this for as low as $242.51 in the recent past (source: camelcamelcamel)

but this is still a good price, for those of you who are waiting for stock, you can use www.eyeItForMe.com (ASIN: B002IJA1EG) to automatically poll amazon for stock.

the best deal was during newegg's black friday, ONLY $218!!! i'm still waiting for that day i can get at least 80GB for $100...this is just too rich for my blood
