the free mobile to mobile is great, everyone i know has it too... but anywyas, too bad you didn't sign up when it was still PacBell, they had free mobile to mobile nationwide with the free long distance. i was under the impression that the new plans are free mobile to mobile only in your local calling area

I've been with PacBell for over 18 months now and I don't recall them ever seeing that their free MTM was free NATIONWIDE long distance. I thought it was always free MTM within your local calling area (that local calling area covering all of California and parts of Nevada). And if you wanted, you could pay another $10 per month and get free nights and weekends as well. Well that's how I always thought it went.

ps: What in the world is call-forwarding. I never use this feature.

I believe previously the free mobile to mobile was bundled with the free domestic long distance. That was why it is essentially free mobile to mobile whereever. With the new plans, they are no longer bundled together, however I believe free domestic long distance is included with the $39.99 plan, and you can still get the option of free mobile to mobile.

I must say, you folx are going to get brain tumors with all these cellular minutes. They have proved that earphones send the radiation straight to your skull. I use my speakerphone as much as I can.

well, it was hot when it was pacbell. i have the 120 min plan with free mobile-to-mobile. I make most calls during the day, so that night's and weekends thing did me no good. I put about 750 minutes a month on my phone and never pay extra gotta love free mobile-to-mobile

this plan isn't right for everyone, but me at least.

I opened 2 lines in Jan, the plan was much better,
$30 for 150min + unlimited weeknight and weekend + unlimited sms + bonus 1000min for 3 months.
$40 for 300min + unlimited weeknight and weekend + unlimited long distance + unlimited sms + bonus 1000min for 3months.
And 8290 was completely free. Now everybody has to sell at $99 + tax.

This is old news. I'll be switching to their new plan once my promotional bonuses run out in a month or so.

Does anyone know of a website where you can send text messages to a Cingular/Pac Bell phone? I know Sprint PCS can do this, but I can't seem to find a damn website that offers this service for Cingular phones. Thanks in advance.

Just a FYI Cingular also has SBC and Ameritec wireless built in also. Its something like 12 different wireless companies that merged.

New plans sound pretty good to me...

Does anyone know if Cingular will let you trade in your older phone to a newer model (like from 6190 to 8290/8890) when your current contract is up? Also, will they let you keep your current number if an upgrade is allowed? Thanks in advance.

Guess its up to me to defend Sprint PCS here. IMHO, even though you pay for the phone, the service plans are better and cheaper. For my $30 a month, I get 250 anytime, 250 night/weekend, and wireless web. Wireless web is useless for most things, but I can check out my eGay bids, and use AOL IM, so its kinda neat. Also, to he who said you don't have analog fallback; That's only the case if you don't get a dual band phone. Finally, the phones aren't even that expensive. I ended up paying $70 for my StarTac after rebates. I guess I'm the only guy here who's willing to pay a little more up front to save a little down the road!

About Cingular just being a bunch of renamed Bells... the same can be said about Verizon, which is the renamed company after the merger of Bell Atlantic/NYnex and GTE

Is it true that in order to have DSL you'd have to keep the landline. I've heard the opposite, but it is possible that both services were provided by the same company, BellSouth, of which BellSouth wireless is a part of Cingular now.

Pacbell/Cingular has something called "equipement upgrade", you can change to new plan with another year contract and get a new phone, but need to pay more than open a new line with new phone, less than the msrp of the phone.
