Keep in mind that if youre a gamer using low mouse sensitivity you probably won't want to use the MX1000. Many of them are reported to have a slight lag if you pick up the mouse. I tried it out and ended up returning it to get an MX510.

I heard the same thing, but I use mine and its the most accurate mouse I have ever used.

Depends on your playing style. Some players are fine with it, others can't stand it. There's a video out that shows a guy repeatedly picking up the mouse and the cursor clearly lags. The same test on an intellimouse is fine. For me, that split second lag when i pick up the mouse is crucial since i pick up the mouse a LOT. And since I only aim for the head in counterstrike i need that precision. If you pick up the mouse and put it back down and the cursor "jumps" a little that totally throws off my aim.

Its actually dark blue, the pictures are misleading. Looks black under most lighting conditions in my room.

I can't remember where I read a forum discussion about the phenomenon, but the conclusion was that it was something wrong from the factory with one particular batch of mice.

The major problem with some of these mice is the so-called "cursor jumping" issue (LINK). I'm not sure if they weeded out the defective ones or not, but I had to return my first one due to the issue. What would happen is that, without moving the mouse, the cursor would randomly jump to another section of the screen. I returned it for another one, which happened to have the same serial/part numbers (there apparently were several revisions), and it works flawlessly. One of the things people got mad at Logitech about was the fact that they never officially admitted it was an issue.

Other than that, if you get one that works right, it is insanely accurate. This is assuming you don't pick the mouse up off the surface a lot, because the laser automatically goes into standby mode once this happens, probably so no one can claim their eyes were damaged by it when looking at the underside.

If you want to save a few dollars (and you are a bit patient) you can put this set together on your own as I have. Buy the mx1000 and the lx700 desktops seperately. Toss the lx700's mouse (or keep it for a spare, or eb@y it, etc.) and the lx700's base station will work fine with the mx1000. I went this route because

1) It was cheaper (under $90 ARs)
2) I use the mx1000's original base station as a remote charger (away from my HTPC)
3) I prefer the metallic grey color to blue of the mx3100 desktop
4) extra mouse!

I'm talking about in person. I know it's blue, but I have it, and in person, it looks VERY dark blue or even black in the lighting in my room.

i got that mouse. i couldnt play counterstrike with it when i first got started. i pick up my mouse alot when i turn corners. but after a week i was playing with it like a pro again. Going back to teh mx700 felt weird.
