I went to Costco yesterday and saw a Viewsonic 22" LCD, model VX2235WM. The picture looks good but with the warehouse lighting one can never be sure. The price is right, $350 and the specs look good so I bought one.

I originally had aimed for the Dell 2407 but I can never even get close the deal posted, but I did want something bigger than my 19" LCD and abeit at the right price.

There is a lot of talk about what is the best panel technology and frankly they are beyond my understanding and interest. For the price, I am sure this is NOT the best technology but it could be the BEST VALUE for me.

Apparently, Dell is about to introduce a 22" LCD and there are 22" LCD Acer and Samsung available. Rumor is that all panels for 22" LCD are made by Chemei (sp?), a large OEM manufacturer.

I installed the monitor and tested for dead pixel. There is no dead pixel and the size is just about perfect for me and the picture at 1650X1050 looks great. So for me this is a real good buy.

PS Disclaimer: I have NO interest in Costco except being a member, and buy at your own risk, YMMV.

Good question... is there an actual deal or this just your thoughts on something but decided to post in a "Hot Deals" forum.

I say very warm due to the resolution. Same res as the VX2025WM model. This might work for some, but not for others.

As for me, I'd like to go into Costco (I am a member) and check it out in person. Res aside, great price for a 22" WS LCD.

i would consider this a very nice deal, and unlike the previous post, specifically BECAUSE of the resolution. larger lcd with slighly lower resolution is great for people that don't want to bring their graphics cards to its knees just to enjoy a bigger screen.

Tip - put the product in the message subject. This could have been a question on the warmth in Spain for all we could tell.

the acer 22" is also $350 at costco.com. though it's warranty is only 1year compared to viewsonic's 3year.

Beauty is often in the eyes of of the beholder. So is a great deal or hot deal.

I have actually looked around for a year before I saw this deal. No, there was no coupon which would makes it a real hot deal. But I have not seen any 22" LCD which looks better than this at htis price range.

If you are not familiar with LCD monitor then you would not know that higher resolution with higher or bigger size LCD will bring your graphic card to their knees as @araczynski pointed out. I run mine at 32 bit color at the native resolution of 1680X1050 (WS).

Check the prices of 22" LCD and post their prices and specs and you will come to your own conclusion.

Again, let me say that monitors are very subjective. I will never presume what you would like or dislike.

@trey22,

The VX2025WM received excellent reviews but this 22" might not used the same panel technology. I do not have the VX2025 and cannot make a direct comparison.

I replaced my 19" Acer LCD with this VX2235WM. There is absolutely no comparison.

A lot more sexy than my old Acer 19" LCD. Black bezel with a silver offset at the edge on 3 sides except the bottom.

yeah... not putting any relevant info in your subject line is definitely not hot.
