I went to Costco yesterday and saw a Viewsonic 22" LCD, model VX2235WM. The picture looks good but with the warehouse lighting one can never be sure. The price is right, $350 and the specs look good so I bought one.
I originally had aimed for the Dell 2407 but I can never even get close the deal posted, but I did want something bigger than my 19" LCD and abeit at the right price.
There is a lot of talk about what is the best panel technology and frankly they are beyond my understanding and interest. For the price, I am sure this is NOT the best technology but it could be the BEST VALUE for me.
Apparently, Dell is about to introduce a 22" LCD and there are 22" LCD Acer and Samsung available. Rumor is that all panels for 22" LCD are made by Chemei (sp?), a large OEM manufacturer.
I installed the monitor and tested for dead pixel. There is no dead pixel and the size is just about perfect for me and the picture at 1650X1050 looks great. So for me this is a real good buy.
PS Disclaimer: I have NO interest in Costco except being a member, and buy at your own risk, YMMV.
