I have bought 2 cards from newegg that where listed as "Recertified", one did not work out of the box (XT9800, card only) it showed the standard ATI plaid screen ( to high of an OC that killed the card). I was givin the option of waiting for another one to come in stock, had to be a "Recertified" one again (waited 2 months and no go) or pay the restock ing fee (15% at the time). I evently broke down and payed the restock to get my money back. After that i was very leary, but tried once again on a 6800Ultra that was listed as "Recertified" . the card came in the original box and all do dads where included. Card worked, but had artifacts bad unless you underclocked it.. even on a plain old Windows Desktop, in games it was even worse. Once again I ate a RESTOCK fee.
I must admit both where bought over a year ago and policies may have changed.. but I would nver get another from NEWEGG. One card never worked so it cant have even been tested. the other i could see passing a quick "yep i see a screen" test, but he atrifacts would have been noticble to anybody that did anything but a quick glance.
both cards where listed as "Recertified" and not open box.
Side note, I have also tried 2 "Recertified" Motherboards from them ( yes im a glutton for punishment) one was missing a small part on the CPU interface so it did not boot at all (was an easy fix with another old MB). The other worked correclty and was fine. Both MB's came with nothing but the board.
I cant see how any manufacture would send a "Recertified" item out with accesories, any legit one will not. And I doubt NEWEGG is a able to Recertifie any hardware.
yes there is some bitterness, 3 out of 4 items did not work. Please remebnr this was all at least 1 to 3 years ago. I buy many things from NEWEGG that are new and am 100% satisfied with them on that front.
