Does anyone have the part number for the 2.6c and 2.8c retail kits to do this deal?
2.6C GHz = IM1894990
2.8C GHz = IM1840451
Where do you get these part numbers from? Is there a catalog or something, because they're not listed at the website.
You can deduce the part number by looking up the item on sites like Sparco.
Whatever the part number there, you reverse the first three, then the second three, then add "IM1" to the beginning of it.
For instance, if the part # you get from Sparco is 123456, then its Ingram Micro part # would be IM1321654. That's what you would give to the Staples rep on the phone.
Sorry if it's a little unclear; it's a lot less complicated than it might sound.
There's a massive thread over at FW that gives all the details on it. Before asking repetitive questions there, I'd suggest taking out a chunk of time to go through the thread as most of your questions will probably be answered already. Lots of good info.
If you are building a second system then it makes sense but otherwise it looks like a waste of money to me. I mean, we are not talking about big performance difference, in fact it depends on the board more. On the other hand it seems spending another $200+ just for 0.4 GHz when the same or better can be achieved by overclocking ...So how much is the 2.8c originally? I might just upgrade my 2.4c that i bought from newegg for $185 a month ago. Speaking of which, do you guys think that upgrading my 2.4c to a 2.8c is worth it?

You should go with 800 MHz CPU, 2.4 or 2.6, or 2.8, either one is better than these Pentium Bs. Why in the world would anybody waste money on inferior processor. I would rather replace the motherboard than go backwards that way.

they canceled my order for the 2,6 cos its OOS. sparco says they're awash in them. grrr.
on the plus side though, they did say they'd flag my account with the 30 dollar coupon when i call to reorder.
horrible overclock. best I can get is 2.6 stable at 1:1 memory.Originally posted by: GtPrOjEcTX
