Just an FYI, coupon codes are not allowed (nor is asking for them), so you might want to edit it out of your post before it gets locked/deleted/you banned

Anyone know anything about this TV, how it compares with others this size on the market?

Hmmmm,

The shipping when I do it comes to almost $300, and the coupon is only good for 3% off which comes to $40. This deal has become much colder.

Duh stupid me, someone already posted that the coupon was only for 3%.

Hey, I just called Kmart and told them that the coupon was supposed to be for 30% according to
Anandtech. When the CSR heard Anandtech, she put me on hold for a minute, then came back
and told me that her supervisor told her to honor the price because she'd verified the 30% in
the Anandtech post, and that the same person had posted the same info in f**wallet, so it must
be true.

What a great deal.

Haha, are you kidding? I hope so. If that's how K-Mart does business, it's no wonder why they won't be around much longer. BTW, I own the previous year model of this TV and I love it.

The question is: Are you kidding about him kidding? Everyone knows when you throw the Anandtech name out there you get more than just a stupid look or a huh. You get action.

Wow, it's a good thing this thread got funny
I was sooo excited to be getting a 36 inch flatscreen (finally) next week.
Then I saw the title of this thread, and the 36 inch was no longer an option.
Now, I'm back to the 36 inch, and disappointed.

Hmmm..... I'm probably getting my tv from Sears (incidentally, sears associates have a schedule long in advance of when things are going on sale... the tv my wife wants, a JVC is going on sale Feb 6,7,8, but the associates have no way of knowing the price. Since I don't know the sale price, it hasn't warranted being posted yet, but with the 110% pricematching there, plus the coupons they have now (another thread))

However... Since I'll be buying from sears:

I get confused on the actual screen area when comparing HDTV 16:9 screens and standard TV screens.

When watching normal unstretched TV wouldn't the screen area/size be about the same on your about-to-buy 36" TV?

Plus the angle of view and brightness of the 36" is probably better than the projection t.v.?

It may be just me, but I wouldn't go back to a 4x3 tv for my big screen. I watch too many movies to even think of anything but a 16x9. The toshiba I have has 4 different stretch modes in addition to the standard 4x3 presentation. With these different modes, I watch normal 4x3 broadcasts "blown up" and strectch in combination to give me almost all the video information with very little stretching. It makes all viewing great except sports with the scores at the top and cnbc with the stocks running across the bottom perfect unnoticable. For those, I switch to either 4x3 to stay original or "full" mode which only stretches. If I didn't have a 16x9 already AND the deal was at $980, I would jump on this without hesitation. I might would even consider this for another room. Being as the deal isn't $980 according to previous posts, it pretty much turns cold. It's amazing how these HDTV capable sets are getting uner $2k though.

Yeah, but you have to try to limit your time in 4X3 mode to save your screen from burn-in, but then again if a TV lasts me 4-5 years I'll be happy.
