Do NOT rely on AMEX to PM!

I tried to do this at xmas with a crutchfield order, and they said that they do NOT PM any auto
parts - and yes, they insisted that a CD receiver was an auto part. I tried a few CSRs, but
no go.

YMMV, but that was my experience.

Just wanted to pile on with my opinion- bought this deck about a month ago and am totally satisfied with it. I even got the XM radio tuner to go with it.

The amount of technology you get in this thing for $250ish is amazing.

when i bought my car cd player this past summer, i really wanted a pioneer model within this price range but with a motorized face. since pioneers motorized models are like $500+, i just passed up pioneer and went for a motorized sony in the same price range. the fact that pioneer has a nonmotorized face was the only thing holding me back from buying the DEH-7300 at the time, and for that reason alone is why i still wouldnt recommend the DEH-7400 as mentioned in this thread.

OK - I just got mine on Tuesday, and let me tell you guys, this thing is GREAT! Just having something that will play randomly throughout different folders (and not just randomize within one folder as most do) is such a treat.

But we are discussing the deal here. I would recommend, and actually did, buy from crutchfield. Of course in my eagerness, I forgot the $25 coupon, but we all make mistakes.

Anyways, here's the deal. Bought from crutchfield from 329.95. It also shows on the receipt the plug adapter for my GM car, the antenna adapter, and the faceplate adapter for my large dash opening. these add up to $27, and the next line says installation discount of $27. Add 9.95 for shipping, total of 339.90.

BTW installation took me (with no car audio experience) about 2 hours with curtchfield's included instructions.

So you get all this nice extra stuff that makes installation a breeze. Then after getting it and installing it, I called AMEX BVG, and pricematched to cameratopia.com for 221.99. The CSR accepted the procematch request.

Final price will be 221.99 plus 9.95 shipping (3-day by the way) for a total of 231.94, and i got all adapters, AND i got crutchfields warrantee (allowing my install), support, etc...

This is a GREAT deal on a GREAT unit. I do agree that the 3-5 second gap can be a bit annoying when searching for a specific song, but for general use, the unit is everything i'd hoped for, and the display is also pretty cool...

Anyways, that's my 2cents...

When some of you suggest the wiring harness is like $10, I wonder if we are talking the same thing. I want the harness that with little or no snipping of wires plugs right into the factory system, AND leaves the factory wiring intact so I can pop the old radio in when I sell it etc. I've got a 91 Mustang, and that kind of adapter harness is more like $50 most places I have checked.

I just want a CD though, to replace a AM/FM Cassette. The MP3 stuff doesn't seem really ready yet.

Where would I go to find some decent but cheap car speakers/amp/etc... Kind of like the newegg.com of Car Stereos. This is just to replace my factory sound system which is starting to buzz.

Try carstereodiscounts.com. It is just like a search engine for car stereo.

I have this stereo too and it is amazing. The crossovers work pretty good too.
I bought the harness at Fry's for 10 bucks. Pretty good investment if you ask me since i commute around 35 miles to work each way.

Has anybody got Sound Domain to pricematch? I tried 2 places and they rejected both of the places. I might just go ahead and order from the other places.

The 5% isn't worth the hassle. Even if it's $100 cheaper, you're only going to save $5.

haha jclark, wouldnt you like to know... alot better price than that link has... by a few hundred bucks, thats what i have in my truck

and unfortunately, to answer anyones questions, no i will not buy equipment, i can only spend a certain amount ($3500) per year, and the only way its worth while for me is if you want to buy a plasma, then i can get an exception to the pricing cap that im limited to... so if you want a plasmaget ahold of me, hehe like thats gonna happen.

oh yeah and if you dont buy it from an AUTHORIZED RETAILER, you get NO warranty, none, zip, zilch... so beware, i know crutchfield is an authorized retailer, and i also know that authorized retailers dont price match to non-authorized retailers...

Actually I was able to get my unit (Premier DEH-720) fixed by Pioneer even although I didn't have a receipt. They simply asked me for a serial number and the date when it was manufactured. Entire repair process didnt' cost me a penny.

Flip down panels on CD players i don't like. Would be better if they gave you a free CD changer to go with it.

Hahahhah! Why in the heck are you holding out just for a motorized faceplate? All that does is make it a SLOWER process to change CD's and it's another thing that could break, given the harsh environment of living in a car. (extremely hot/cold weather). Just 1 winter in the U.P. of Michigan killed my Pioneer deck. It stopped playing CD's altogether. I had to take it out and take it back to the dealer I bought it from. My roommate had a similar problem with his Pioneer (same model). Oh, and so did my brother (different model). I'm a little cautious about Pioneer car stereos now.

I strongly suggest you get the full warranty period with Pioneer head units!

Uh, sorry... That's a misprint. Only the P90HDD comes with the 10GB hard drive. And that costs $1,200 on the same site! :disgust:
So unless you have about FIVE 7400mp's to sell....

I saw that price and was about to whip out the credit card. So are you sure it doesn't come with the HD? Where did you find information on it? Pioneerelectronics.com doesn't have info yet.
