EDIT:Sorry folks. I see the coupon has expired. Hopefully they will have the same coupon in the near future.

Seeing I can't post coupon codes on this forum, here is a link explaining how to go about ordering with the coupon code provided.

freakylink,

this has long since been changed to $25 off $100 not $50 off $200, there is no $50 coupon right now, so you're going to pay $224.99 for the plextor burner, a warm deal at best.

I think the Yamaha 16x10x40x EIDE Lightspeed reader is a better deal at $279.99 - $25 coupon for new customers + free shipping = $254.99 shipped!

Only $30 more, you get 40x audio rip, 25% faster write, 8mb onboard buffer (instead of 4 on the Plextor) and a very reliable burner. According to tests by cdrinfo.com this is a very reliable burner. It does not have the patented burn-proof technology but they tried torture tests to get the drive to coaster and couldn't. Yamaha is known for good burners, good bet there.

Plex is the Best!

I've had my Plex 12/10/32A for over 4 months, burned over 600 cd's without a coaster!

Now that's what I call Quality.

Funny, I get the same result on my old Plextor 12/4/32 which is more than 1 year old now. Burnproof is nice but now really need if your system is stable.

i dunno if the coupon-rich emerchants carry it, but the TDK 12/10/32 (24x DAE) Vivowriter happens to be listed on the cloneCD compatibility list and i've had good results. it also has burn-proof. perhaps it's a rebadged plextor.

???
Edit: The Plextor or the Yamaha?

I believe Fujitsu CD-R's support 16x. At least the stickers they put over the old 12x reads 16x on their 80 min 50 pk spindles. There was a deal a while ago for 19.99 from CompUSA with a 10.00 Mail-In Rebate. I think there is also a deal from Ouppost going on right now for Fuji 80 min CD-R's for 19.99. Not sure if they support 16x though...
