I got the pny 5200 a yr ago for @ 40 ar. Its for an htpc and has been great. BTW the rebate came in fine. Prefer no fan but its pretty quiet. This looks to be an outstanding deal. Is there an ati model that can touch this price/perf ratio?
Thanks for the deal. I'm tempted even though mine is working fine.

Probably. The majority I've seen (70%) have unlocked, but there's no guarantees. Even if you do get it unlocked, it may artifact. Would be a pretty wicked budget gaming card if it weren't 64bit, but at this price range, I doubt anyone cares.

9700 Pro blows it out of the water. A 6600GT/X800 and above would beat the 9700 Pro, but otherwise it's not worth upgrading.

yeah this is about as good a card you will get for $35.00 new, but is still barely able to play most games if at all, so still of no use to me.

I actually bought this card a bit ago it's good for HDTV output but as far as the unlocking goes don't except anything as far as I remember the older 6200 could be unlocked cuz they used an older core NV43 core I believe but the newer ones are NV44 core and they don't unlock @ all in fact u can't even overclock the core 1 mhz without the card locking up there are certain versions of the nforce driver that will let u oc but even with those versions it only oc's an extra 50mhz so nothing special @ all... the memory can only oc (with any version of nfocrce drivers) like 50 mhz extra and that's with me adding extra ram sinks... over all this card performs about as well as my old Radeon 9000 non pro... so don't expect any crazy performance from this puppy but for 30 bucks u can't go wrong I paid 70 for this about 3-4 months ago

PNY rebate

That's my position and I stand by it until I get satisfaction on my $40 rebate from Black Friday for a PNY 6600GT from Newegg.

Rejection #1 no UPC - BS because the PNY box from Newegg does not have a UPC and indeed the rebate form does not ask for it, instead asking for a "Proof of Purchase" and gives a sample picture. The "PoP" is a trapezoidal shaped thing on the box that says "Proof of Purchase" and has a dotted line around it, just like the sample on the rebate form.

Resubmitted by fax, rejection #2 no receipt - BS, they are just looking for excuses.

Resubmitted by fax, rejection #3 did not receive - BS, they got it but don't want to give it to me. Woman consulted with "John" (who I spoke with for first fax, heard them talking, didn't even mute) and then told me that they were having fax problems, so didn't receive it, and to mail it to some other address for a resubmission, then she hung up on me! :|

I mailed it certified, return receipt and with a demand letter that I'm prepared to forward to PNY, Newegg, FTC and three attorney generals of various states (mine, first rebate address in TX, second rebate address in FL).

This has cost me about $5 in USPS fees and about $4 in fax fees. Those bastards at the rebate processor... GRRRRRR they piss me off!

Probably NOT, actually. The original 6200s all OC'ed b/c they were all PCIe chips that were converted to AGP... All the new chips are "real AGP" and only have 4 pipes.

You can overclock in the firmware... You typically cannot OC with coolbits... I used coolbits to figure out how fast it could go, backed off a bit and updated my firmware... Works fine and faster.

I don't understand, if you can't overclock in coolbits, how were you able to use it to see how fast it could go?
