Why do you even bother posting in this thread?

Do you go into hot deals threads about computer hardware and start shitting all over what's being offered?

I didn?t think the album was that good I can have a opinion right? I would only listen to it if paid sorry if that hurt your feelings fanboy, not every opinion has to be good.

so do you go and post that "you don't like this item and you wouldn't buy it unless it was cheaper or they paid you" in every deal thread posted where you don't buy the item?

No, I don?t think I have ever posted negatively in the hot deals out of the few times I have. Which is why I am surprised by the response.

People who frequent here tend to frown upon posts that are only thread crapping. The same goes for the FS/T forums.

There's a similar thread to this in Off Topic where you can post your opinion about the album. BTW, I didn't see an actual opinion anywhere in your original post. Just a snide remark.

I paid $3 after conversion. I tried putting in 0 but it wouldn't let me. I didn't particularly care for the album but I really don't mind supporting this method of distribution. It is genius and I hope more artists in the future do the same.

Same here. Paid approx. $3 after conversion for download. I think it's a more than fair price considering they're 160kbps files and it's in a digital format (i.e. not a package CD with case and artwork).

I really wanted the box set, but for $80? Too much (damn stupid dollar is worthless now). I probably would've paid up to $40 or $50 for it though. I really don't need it to be offered in all those formats (CD, vinyl, download). A CD or vinyl copy would've sufficed.

Overall, I'm liking the new album.

Its not that bad of a deal when you think about it. I am a huge huge huge radiohead fan so i kinda have to buy it to be at peace with myself but look at it..

2 cds
2 Vinyls
1 lyric book
and some art

CDs could go for 15-20 a piece
Vinyl is expensive easily 20 per
1 lyric book...cool don't know how to price it
art....dunno depends on the art..

15+15+20+20+10=80

not THAT bad of a deal

I might change my mind if I were to see decent quality pics of the items or maybe in person.

Maybe I'll luck out and find it used somewhere or even cheaper on eBay.

Its too bad they won't convert the pound into dollar for those living in the US. Since a starbucks coffee is 3pounds in London and $3 in the US.

I bought the boxset. I still think to charge $3 for a digital album is a great price point. Very curious if anyone will find out the stats on what people generally paid for the album.

This along with NiN possibly doing something like this sounds like a good direction for the artists to go towards.

I laughed at your comment, if it makes you feel any better. I don't count for much around here, though, so take it what it is worth.

In other words, don't be a dick.

Actually, you are wrong. Artists make really little money at all with record sales. What they are doing with this, they will probably make more than they would, since there are no record labels involved. Bands make their money from tours. Giving their album out like this allows more exposure, since people are more likely to go download their album since it is free or very little charge.

Necro your absolutely right. Bands make most of their money from touring non stop. Prince just gave out a free cd in the British papers a little bit ago......Then proceeded to sell out 21 straight shows in london.

The hype that radiohead has created is going to net them a large amount of money from this. I think most people spent anywhere from 3- 20 bucks for this download. I think we'll see more and more of this in the future. Now, pop artists that do not write their own songs and rely on MTV and radio stations to get their music played will suffer (which is fine with me because their music sucks).
