Several are available in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, but only 3 local stores out of 24 in the area have it (or should I say, HAD it) for $18.99. The rest of the stores have it at $48.99, $56.99 (the most common clearance price), $73.99, $77.99, $84.99, and $94.99 (regular price). The price at each store is set according to the item's previous sale history at that store, so none of the stores will match another store's price on clearance items. All of the ones for $18.99 are already gone. (I suspect that BestBuy employees or their friends probably grabbed a few.)

Good luck with that. They will not price match it, and I doubt they will let you buy it back on the spot. However, if you come back in about an hour or so when it's back on the shelf, I don't see how they would be able to refuse.

Better return about ten of them just to make sure they won't all be gone by the time you get back.

If I wanted to ship an item like this, I would "double box" it (i.e., put it in a box suitable for shipping with appropriate packing material) -- the same way that items are shipped by reputable online stores like NewEgg. That way, the retail box is nice and clean and undamaged, and there's much less chance of damage to the keyboard.

There are some items that are clearance .. at all bestbuy stores ... i work at bestbuy and i know a lot of car audio decks are on clearance since the new 2008 models came out ..

I don't think that you have seen this box. I'd ship it that way. This box seems to be already doubled. There is a flap on the 'face' that is the full size of the box that is held shut with velcro, when you open that flap you basically get another box with a window to see another cardboard 'face' with a window showing some keys. I probably did a bad job of explaining it, but this seems to be packaged rather well. When you open the box and slide out the 'sub-box', within that, there is cardboard spacers to absorb shock or impacts before they'd get to the keyboard.

I hope you tape the flap shut instead of relying on the Velcro to keep it shut. In fact, I hope you seal all of the edges with tape. Some of the boxes in the stores looked all nice and pretty, but most of them were damaged just from being moved around in the store. The unsecured edges have a tendency to catch on things, so they get pulled open and torn. The box is a bit overstuffed, causing it to bulge, which has a tendency to make the edges of the package more vulnerable because it makes them even easier to catch on things.

I guess it doesn't matter what happens to the retail box if you're just going to throw it away when you get the keyboard. But if you use it as a shipping box, it will probably be scuffed and torn when you get it, or all covered with tape.

I'm tempted to just buy out the stock from one store and return it to another even if it means buying 10 keyboards Not like they can refuse to accept it or sell them to me later at $18.99

I went to the Danbury, CT store and they had the keyboard on display for 18.99. They didn't have any out but their inventory said that they had six in inventory. I tried to buy the floor model but they said they can't sell it because it is not a discontinued item. I was probably being a pain, but I was trying to get the keyboard for 18.99. Anyway, I spoke with an associate who probably shouldn't have said this, but he said that they were told not to display them at that price.

Thanks for the post! I grabbed one at the Baytown, TX BB last weekend for 19.99. Funny thing is, it was an open box / return and it had a sticker on the box advertising the low, low price of $84.99 due to this fact. I went ahead and had it scanned and sure enough it was $19.99.

I went ahead and chose this model because of the convenient audio passthrough ports on the back of it. It's awesome not having to reach around the back of the tower to plug in my mic when I want to use voice chat.

Well, there are about 20 keyboards left here in Houston. Of course, all the stores that have them in stock aren't selling them at the clearance price. So As I siad I was going to do above. I bought one at regular price, and went to a "clearance" store and had them price adjust it. No problem. Was in and out and got the keyboard at the price I wanted even if I had to drive a bit.
