was just in the Riverside store yesterday the shelf is saying $44, it's an open box though so possibly would be less? I was tempted to get it, but seeing $19 from the OP make me SICK! for 45 this is a killer deal, if I saw them for $20? I'd buy a dozen if they had that many in stock.

which Riverside store? I went to the one that is basically in Moreno Valley off Day, it is still considered Riverside though, you talking about the Tyler one?

Day street is Riverside? I'm talking Tyler, I'm sure Mo Val has dropped the price since you posted that, not sure how much. With only 1 in stock at the tyler store I have zero hope of it sticking around until the price cut to $18 comes. Oh well

I snagged the last one at my BB. But it came up for me as $39 on clearance. Will ship it for $60 if people want (around $10 to ship). There's no more left in the Birmingham, AL area

It was on clearance for $65 last week, I guess prices drop each week or so.

build quality is outstanding, keys are flat and have the perfect amount of tactial feedback, has onboard memory so you can save profiles to it and take the KB with you and keep them intact. I am a KB junkie, I own like hummm 4 or 5 high end boards and the Razer easily takes the cake as my favorite. I own one and would buy another in a heartbeat, I know mine won't last forever and in 4 years when it dies finding a replacement won't be easy. I don't think anyone will outdue this board by than so I want a backup.

You have to use it to understand how good it is.

I just wish these high end keyboards didn't have the standard staggered keys. If anyone should be changing it's gaming keyboard makers. WASD works a lot better when the W is directly above the S

They had 5 in Augusta GA. Picked up 1 for my son, might go back tomorrow after work and get another.

These were all out in my area. One store had one for $56, but that is far to much for my blood. However, I did pick up a MERC Stealth Board for $35, after looking at the review it is supposedly a nicer board. I'll let you know.

Checked another BB in the area, the only one that even carries razer keyboards, and they were on sale for $72... still too high for my likes

Can anyone explain the difference between the Tarantula and the Lycosa keyboards?

Perhaps I will have to try the one I have (it's still sitting in its box). I really like my Logitech Wirelss keyboard for everyday use (don't need the 'wireless' part). I use my N52 for gaming, so I really don't think I will be giving that up and start putting my left hand back on a keyboard with in a FPS.

Umm... that MS ergonomic keyboard and a Tarantula seem to be in completely different leagues when it comes to high end gaming keyboards and features in general.

erm, keyboards unlike mice aren't going to increase your kill to death ratio theres no high resolution sensors involved its a keyboard
features of "gaming" keyboards tend to be gimmicks.
since he apparently couldn't get one in his area i was just suggesting an alternative which i think is far superior. you spend most of your time on a pc interacting through the kb, it might as well be a decent one. the razors features are of questionable worth.
not having a sore wrist probably helps any gamer more.

ms ergonomic with mouse $35

just the kb

While I do agree with the fact that having a "1ms response" or "interchangable keys" might be somewhat gimmicky, I think a lot of the features that the Tarantula have aren't available on any MS keyboard. For example, Microphone/Headphone jacks right there on the keyboard, 2 USB ports on the keyboard also, and hotkey/macro customization. Concerning the hotkey/macro customization, I own a Microsoft Desktop 4000 (thanks to that awesome Staples deal), which has the acclaimed hotkey customization too, and I'm rather disappointed with the crappy MS software that barely lets you do anything to switch up the keys. I've heard Razer's software does a better job, which in some cases might be really helpful for gaming. I think the keyboard you suggested is pretty great too (great deals on them btw!), albeit, the Razer offers more features. I'm pretty bummed no BB offers it for such low prices in my area too

i guess i just prefer the simplicity. i don't switch keys, i just alter key bindings in games, or use buy script binds and stuff like in counterstrike.

If its a razer product then its gonna be buggy. I had one of these keyboards last year and the keys had a mind of their own. I hit "t" and got "ttt". BUT for $18 Id be all over it even though I prefer the Lycosa for its slim LIGHT design. The tarantula is a beast and the "wrist rest" is hard and awkward thanks to its height.

Not a bug you have to turn down the key speed in your control panel. At default it's too sensitive for most people, but I guess that's good if you can type 150wpm or play a FPS where you need every millisecond advantage.

GF got the white model off Woot a few weeks ago, she commented in LOTR how when you pressed the key to do something it did it 3 times. once I got use to how responsive the keys were I love this board.

I guess Ill have to look into it again. You dont mind the solid wrist rest? My wrist was killing me after a few hours of play. The feedback of the keys was great though.

wow, so I glanced over this thread a few days ago. and thought - yeah right, that would be nice to actually come across this.

Went into BB looking for a laptop last night... bam - razer tarantula keyboard - $25. Last one left.

I was very happy, replaced saitek keyboard. This razer one is MASSIVE, but a very cool keyboard (quiet keys)
