I'm not aware of Iomega using a Lite-On drive for their 12x drives. They did use Plextor and Sanyo for their 12x drives, though.

Software bundle in this drive does not have Nero, it has NCI (?) maybe? I use clonecd so I was not particularly worried about software bundle, plus have Nero from another burner and got Ez cd creator platinum for 30.00 a while back with Win XP deal.

Ghouldini-retail Lite-On has bundled Nero software,but Pacific Digital bundles NTI software.I've never tried it,I stick with Nero and CloneCD.I just installed this drive and love it.Good DAE speed - just copied 72min audio CD.It took Nero less than 3min to read and about 4min to write CD.I don't know what is going on at Sam's,but they had 16x burners for $79.xx - more expensive than 24x.They also had 24x Pine drives but still for $99.xx.

Just went to Sams @ Atlanta, GA. They have 14 left. It's labeled $119.99 and rang up at $99.99. I've picked up one and plan to do a PM another day. Can anyone got it @ $56.91 can post a scan of receipt here?

This is a bump in the hopes that someone who bought this burner at the $56.91 price might be able to post a scan of their receipt (or even email it to me--please PM me). My local Sam's manager said that he would PM as many as I want if I could get him a copy of the receipt. Many thanks!

My Seattle area Sam's (supermall location) has the Pine 16x CDRW retail box at $56. It is clearly marked on the shelf stocking box, so no price check is even needed.

As for memberships, at the EXIT doorway, they were handing out free "90-day" passes for us to give out to other people we knew. So, just look for a Sam's employee handing them out, get one, and then saunter in.... If no one at the exit is handing them out, just go to the customer service desk and tell them that a sam's club member told you about the 90-day passes being handed out, and could they please give you one because your friend (the sam's club member) didn't have it on him to give to you at that time he was bragging about Sam's club to ya....

i was thinking the same until i looked at the box close up last night (btw, got one for $56.91 last night, price must've fell when year changed thanks nightman for the deal! took a little driving and a lot of persistence, but i will have a happy coworker--finally)
plus the customer reviews of the retail plus/pine 24x bear this out also

If I hadnt just got a 24x plextor, I might have had to grab one.

with all due respect, i believe the signs on the shelf may have gotten mixed up, because that drive is $199.98 here (u-30110 i THINK)
if it was half of that, it would be $0.91 on the end of it
but as you can see from my posts in this thread, i have been wrong before
will be wrong again
but a 16x lg for $65 without rebate, i won't cry
