Yes it is hot!

They had these a week or so ago and they sold out.

IMO the 400Mhz is the best deal since it comes with the cradle ..
I don't think the 300MHz model comes with the cradle.
Which sell for about $30 alone .

I run all my applications including games from the memory card, a little slower load times, but 300 MHZ suites me just fine since I don't use system memory to store stuff.

Unfortunately, they're all out of them again (I did get a chance to order several before they sold out).

I've only had a chance to use the 300Mhz one, which worked really well with most of the apps that I threw at it.I'm looking forward to the 400Mhz version, which should be here by Wednesday.

Strange. You can buy these if you go directly to the compgeeks.com website. They're $139.00 + $7.00 shipping that way. You can't get them through the link here for some reason. Shows OOS.

By going thru the website, I went all the way to "Order" before cancelling, so I'm sure it would have taken the order.

HTH!!!

Edit: Just to clarify, the linky from gotapex.com was showing a $132.95 price for the 300mhz. That's the one I'm referring to here.

Would the 300 version be good enough flor playing movies (full PPC resolution), or I should I step up to the 400?

I have the 400mhz. Haven't tried the movie playin' yet....only had it about a week. Everything I've read says the 400mhz is the best one for movies.

Was thinkin' about orderin' the 300mhz though to resell.

400Mhz is definitely better...it also lets you run at 200Mhz in powersave mode which should give you better battery life if you just wanna listen to mp3s or something simple(200Mhz is enough to run mp3s just fine)...

The 300 is fine for Divx. Neither is suitable for Windows Media Video (WMV) at full screen...WMV pretty much sucks. But I can play full screen (320x240, 15fps, 200kbps) Divx on PocketMVP at 200MHz with very few dropped frames - maybe 1 every 3 minutes or so.

Well it depends on how you like to encode the DivX. It might play fine at 300MHz, but you can do better quality at the same performance at 400MHz.

My Toshiba e335 plays mpg's with Pocket TV pretty well. I think 300 mhz is fine for movies.

400Mhz is better because it has a larger rom so when the new WindowsCE comes out it will fit... Older PPCs have had problems updating windows because the ROM wasn't big enough and they had to drastically cut back on features.. That't the main reason I bought a 400mhz model (new, back in December and I LOVE it.. Just got back from a 4 hour car ride back and forth.. played NES games, listened to MP3s and watched a couple movies all on one charge of the battery)...

I've heard that PPC2k3 will fit inside 32mb (current OS takes about 27mb), so almost any PPC except ones like the ipaq 1910 can theoretically be updated.

Just rembmer that this PDA probably are not using the new Xscale chips which have a 200mhz bus. Just my 2cents.
