Staples didn't question it at all, very easy. For those in the area, West Lafayette's Staples is now out of them.

Yep, my roommate, Aga and I went in there and walked out. The manager didn't even care. She was just like "Okay. That's a nice deal there" and let us out! OMG. This thing even has DVI

EDIT: Oh BTW, we got the 731B.

I picked one of these up the other day, and was wondering how the color compares to something like that of the 2005fpw. Mine seems very, very off.

I already got 2 from OM but you make me wanna go back to Staples for more. lol

Staples only carry 731B...that's why i said "possible" and not "for sure"

you got an awesome deal if rebates complete.

sh!t  i have had this lcd since ~12/05 - 01/06 and say it works excellent for gaming. i have compared it to a sony, viewsonice and a couple others and was always happy with it, and i paid ~$300 or so. i may go look tomorrow and see if i can find another one to double up on this bad boy.

for gaming this is an excellent lcd even @ $300, no ghosting or anything even in fast pace fps shooters. my rig in sig pushed bf2 @ 1280x1024 to an easy 60+ fps (likely much more, probably closer to 80 but i am being conservative) and this monitor rocks.

i just switched over to dvi with a dvi cable from www.monoprice.com and will say there is not much of a difference - maybe 10% - blacks and text look deeper and clearer but still and improvement. if i would have paid ~$40 for the dvi cable i would say it wasn't worth it, but the price that monoprice has the dvi-d cables for you can't go wrong.

i would give this monitor 4/5 stars. it is better than the 1yr old 19" viewsonic it replaced.

Continue wating and keep wating untill 22" widescreens are commonplace and 1080P with HDMI/HDCP is standard issue.

Staples was very polite, but knew it was a different model, so SOL there too.
That was REALLY stupid of the manager considering it was a discontinued display. You can take solace in the fact that they'll have to discount it down on their own and take a loss instead of getting credit back. lol

Yeah I travelled about 85 miles to a variety of stores trying to get the damn monitor myself. I actually needed 3 of em...one for a freind with a dying compaq CRT one for a subbase owner who needed a slim LCD over his bulky CRT and one for a new system I was building for a family member. I tried 2 staples, an office depot, circuit city, compusa, bestbuy, and an actual office max. Every single one of them were a total ****** ass. The staples guys only had the 731 and refused to discuss the matter and were just flat out rude. The office depot just blows ass and didnt even carry monitors...the circuit city actually had some, but refused to pricematch because it was a "special" or whatever. Compusa only had a single display left and wouldnt sell it for any less than 150$. The best buy was the worst, I asked if they had the 730 or 731 yadda yadda the dude goes and looks and they have the 731, I ask if they pricematch and he looks at the add and freaks out because I "lied" it says only the 730 not the 731. So hes just bitching me out yelling and screaming like I just stole his ****** car or something. Im like WTF dude calm the freak down you coulda just said no. I try leaving and the ****** guy tries to stop me like Ive done something wrong. Anyway I shoved his ass on the floor, which was wrong, and left. So I drive all the way to the ****** officemax (which was 30 of the 85miles) and they tell me theyre now sold out!! GARRR @#$%^&@#^$^@%&(#!!!

Needless to say I just wasted a ton of time and money...probably worth what the LCD cost. And I still need 3 LCDs on a budget, and even a 150$ LCD isnt going to be as nice. If I can find one for that price. Ahhh...yawn. And I still have a vehicle I need to get running. Oh its 3:30 monday...aint got time now.

That was my concern too. But for a hundred bucks, I decided what the hell, it will be good until then.

Off topic / I know HDMI is the new connector to be used for input of new monitors and HDTVs. Is HDPC another standard or type of connector?
And as far as I know, I should not be bothering with buying a monitor/HDTV unless it fully supports 1080p , correct?
