^It's a pretty huge upgrade over a 6950.

Hold everything, folks. Since this card doesn't require a coupon code, it's likely that you can an extra 10% off by checking out using V.me and applying the V.me promo code VMEPROMOMAR13, making this card $241 AR, which is LAVA hot.

10% Promo Code: VMEPROMOMAR13
if we pay via V.me by visa

Sorry, gents, but that's not going to work:

"The promo code VMEPROMOMAR13 cannot be combined with combo deals or gift items attached to products."

How is does the price on this card compare to previous deals? Lowest I can recall.

Also, is this thing voltage locked? How are the fans? I'm finally thinking about upgrading from my 4870 and want to pick the right card since I rarely ugrgade.

Just installed one last night -- didn't get to o/c much b/c it was late and my azz was tired.

I looped Unigine Valley for 60 minutes and the card runs cool. It boosts voltage to 1.25V @load -- had a custom fan speed maxed @60% = nice low humming sound. Max temp was 64* (1150 core 1600 memory so far --- more to come!)

At stock it should be about 10-20% faster than 460SLI. Both the 7950 and 460 have huge overclocking headroom - so while an OC'd 7950 would be much faster than stock 460SLI, I'll just assume that you either have your current setup OC'd and will OC this card, or you're not into OC'ing. In other words, the difference remains 10-20% - not a huge upgrade, but it's worth it if you're having trouble with your current setup.

Here's a $10 HDMI to DVI cable that should work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882021059

But if you want to avoid the possibility of any problems, you can get a card with dual DVI ports: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814202026

thanks big time termie.
Its been a long time since I ran a radeon, their bloatware ccc was a pain back then so I went with N when the 460 was great for the price and picked up another dirt cheap. But with the dual power and heat I was thinking of replacing with a single, but mine does run fine.
more decision time

I got an amazon.com rewards credit card for this purchase. APR 14% (my next best card is 17%) and 3% back on amazon rewards. I order a lot from Amazon anyway. I have a prime membership too, because in AK newegg charges $25 for 2 day shipping.
$289
-$20 rebate
-$30 gift card when I got the new credit card
-$~40 sell never settle bundle
-$160 for selling 2 GTX 460's
-$8 in amazon.com rewards
_______
$31 for a new 7950! Plus the power savings! I'm so giddy!

Does the game bundle provide one or two codes for the games? I would like to ebay just the Crysis3 code since I already have it.

NM, looks like you submit one code to an AMD website which then provides separate Steam and Origin codes.

FYI the measurement for this card is pretty long, make sure it will fit in your case.

11.42" x 4.92" x 1.38"

It should fit in most modern mid-tower cases, provided it's not one of those bargain basement ones. I have an HIS 7950 IceQ x2 and that measures 11.75" long and fits on my Corsair Carbide 400R.

nice deal. may go ahead and order 1 or 2 of them. Would need to sell off the 6950's though.

How much of an upgrade would 1 or 2 of these be over 6950 CF unlocked?

I bought this card last week when it was $280 AR. I can confirm it is voltage unlocked and runs very cool and quiet. My card runs easily at 1122mhz at 1.1v

One is a downgrade, even overclocked. Two is a pretty big upgrade, assuming you'd be overclocking. On the order of 50% faster, but be forewarned - there are reports of 7900 series crossfire exhibiting a lot of microstutter/latency. I'd wait until that is resolved.

What is stock voltage and what was the maximum overclock it could handle? Are you still working on it or is 1122 your max?

Stock voltage was about 1.0v. I didn't try to max it out. I find I end up messing with the card more than I play games so now I just spend about 20 minutes find a decent overclock and call it good. I have a feeling I should be able to get some massive clocks out of it when I get bored.

The caveat is overclocking varies from card to card. I already have one of these and it is not stable above 980 no matter how much voltage you give it. Saving me the cost of my Bioshock preorder and ebaying Crysis3 makes buying another for CF very tempting.
