A whopping $1.11 off regular price. This is 18 gauge wire, which is cr*p...Use 16 gauge or smaller if you care at all about sound quality...

Yea, I personally would never consider using 18 gauge on my speakers. 14 would be as high as I would go, but for most people I wouldn't recommend anything higher than 16, 12 being optimal.

Actually, 18-gague is useful if you're talking about rears. I think if you run wire >= 18 feet, 18 gague is recommended. I run 12 on my fronts (<6 feet), 18 on my rears. You are better off buying a little bit better grade than what's advertised, but that's another story.

In wire measurement, lower number gauge means fatter wire. I guess golfers designed the system.

Recoton 50 ft. 18 ga. Speaker Cable
18-gauge, 50 ft. (15.2 m). Wire features heavy-gauge conductors and is ideal for all 12-volt and car stereo applications. Each is polarity coded for easy phasing of installations.

Anything that is measured in a gage (gauge) sizing follows the low = thick, high = thin.
This includes wires, sheet metal, earrings and other things.

Hmmm Parts Express has SoundKing wire 100Ft for 35 bucks. 12Gauge. Not bad...

I'd go with a name brand like monster. Sometimes the good guys or other places has pretty good sales on it. I agree about 18Gauge is too thin. OK for small bose speakers but anything with base or a 6" mid your gonna need at least 14 or 12G...

I wouldn't buy this wire. You can get it cheaper via radio crap or home depot. Go buy some zip cord or lamp cord.

Whoops, I got it reversed. Thin to front, thick to rears. You have a magnetic field which prevents an emf from pushing through wire. So, the longer the cable the greater that force and you need a stronger carrier to go to the rears. Best bet is to check out your receiver's recommendations for wiring. I believe gague is cables per inch, thus 18 gague is 1/18" diameter.
