Looks like a pretty good deal with the 1bit tech and CD/MD. Doesn't have speakers, but you could use your own if you have them. I'm going to wait before ordering one, anyone have any experience or thoughts on this?

beware of buy.com very bad service and deceptive rebate practices they are trying to screw a whole lot of people on fuji finepix 3800 rebates. they shipped my order 48 hours AFTER I cancelled it.

No. It will play Net MDs recorded in SP or LP2/4 mode. It will dub from CD to MD within the unit, and I think it will also record off the radio as well. If you want to transfer MP3 to MD format, you will need to get a Net MD capable portable. You can pick up a basic one for about $100, maybe less if look at fleabay.

I have a Sony N707, I can get about 4 complete CDs on one disk at LP4 recording. Sound seems pretty decent to me.

i guess i dont really need to drag and drop mp3s to md, just record them

The CD player will read CDR/CDRW, but I do not think it can play MP3s. I believe it has a line in, so you could pipe the sound card output from the PC into it, and record in real time to the MD. That would probably work.

actually yes it will, there are 2 inputs (optical and coax). connect your sound card output to either the coax or optical input on the stereo, play your mp3's on the pc (you should hear them play through the stereo speakers), then just hit record on the MD.

i have the silver one. it fills a room 20x20 plenty but don't expect hard hitting base (think bass you can hear rather than feel). i expect this has to do with the speakers as well. i once blew stock speakers that came with a sony stereo. i replaced it with white van speakers and got a tremendous improvement in bass. i'm sure you'll get better results with the black one since it has twice the power (50x2 vs 25x2 watts).

... it's definitely a GOOD LOOKING [executive] stereo. if you're into modern design i recommend it -- looked good enough for me to get passed the lack of bass -- keep in mind, that's with the stock speakers.
