If your refering to the Howard Stern (promo code 263) deal, it ended on thanksgiving eve (24th). Is there another?

Wow, I may jump on this. Anyone have any experience with this particular unit?

I've been thinking about getting the Sirius Roadster for Christmas, but what advantage it be to use that one over the JVC unit?

It really would be nice to see Sirius or XM discount some DIN-sized receivers. There's good real estate in the dash. I'm not sure why they think I'd want to get some portable unit and have to find someplace to mount it.

While it might not work for you, many people find the fact that they can use the same unit for home, car, and office appealling.

Exactly, portability is the key. I wouldn't want to pay $12.00 a month for service that I can use for a limited amount of time.

I got this unit and use it in several places. The car mount comes with a goot windshield cup that holds well. I've gotten several of those on sale (the car mount) for from 9.99 to 14.99 and all you need to make those work in the house if a RS wall wart that costs $8.99. I like the unit, but it does generate a lot of heat.

Well, I just got my fiance to get this for me as a Christmas gift. I've been looking at getting Sirius for a while now, but the $59 deal was just too hard to pass up even with the older tuner hardware.

Just jumped on it. They showed 1 left then price goes up. Now they show 50 left at same price. Good deal. Portability is key for me.

I suspect with Stern coming, we're going to see a lot of new radios from different manufacturers, free after rebate promos etc...The JVC will be a good test to see if satellite radio is all that.

poor UPS man is gonna throw out his back delivering these monstrosities. XM MyFi is the way to go, unless you enjoy lugging around a window a/c unit all day.
just sayin'.

If you've got an XM-ready Alpine headunit, you can get the Alpine Sirius tuner for $30 when you buy a 3 month sub.

More info here.

even the new ones are huge compared to the new XM units... the myfi is the size of an ipod, and is a portable satrad unit. siri's "portable" unit won't even be out til summer and it will require a backpack (not a joke about how big it is, it really does require a backpack).

Stupid question of the day. Been thinking about getting one of these for use in the car home and motorcycle. Is the tuner unit water proof?

Yet XM still doesn't offer the programming some of us are looking for.

Anybody have any deals on the Audiovox PNP3?

Have you seen the Streamer Lite? I suspect it'll have a wearable accessory, like the XM Roady.
too bad the Myfi is the same size (maybe a little thinner) and doesnt' require any add on to be portable.

you mean stern? im an o&a fan, so the choice was easy for me. its sad really... most o&a fans were at one point stern fans (like myself), but after years of the same exact material, we tried something else and found that there were other, funnier alternatives. Most Stern fans, however, don't even give o&a a chance. They hear Stern bash them and figure he must be right. At least listen to them for 2 weeks before you decide they suck. It took me a good week before I got hooked.

and if you weren't talking about stern, maybe you were talking about football? who listens to football on the radio? wouldn't you much rather watch it on directv sunday ticket? baseball on the other hand is the perfect sport for radio. tons of games all week long, not just one day a week like football (well, monday night too) and just more radio friendly.

as far as music, its pretty much equal.

eh, whatever. either way, satrad is the way to go. as far as better hardware, XM wins hands down. as far as programming, that is left to personal opinions.

are these units brand new or refurbs ?

I remember a while back, people were purchasing refurb xm units and some of those still had subscriptions on it.

no it doesn't... strap the antenna to your shoulder and you're set. as for the price, it comes w/ a home kit and a car kit (each is like $70), so when you think about it, the price really isn't that bad if you planned on getting the home&car kits anyway (like me).
