just saw it in the ad for this sunday... $100 instant saving off the usual price of $350, making your purchase $250 + tax... seems pretty hot to me.... just hope they have enough in stock at your local stores...

Sounds like a good deal!

Will Staples PM an instant savings? If so you would be able to get $100 + 10% of $100 off, so the final price would be $240. For some reason my staples still accepts coupons on top of a price match, so some of you might be able to tack on another $40 off. Wasn't there also some rebate for a free memory stick out there?

It looks like Sony came out with a replacement for the 610C, the 615C - Sony PEG-T615C
The list on this model is $399.

Which is better: this PDA or the Palm m505?

Oh, do you have a scan for the ad? I wonder though...if CompUSA is dropping the price, are all stores soon to follow? Particularly in light of the newer model being released...

here you go... link to ad

think the only difference between the N610 and T615 is the body casing... T615 has a metallic casing, and it runs Palm OS 4.1 ... any idea if the Sony Clie N610 is OS upgradeable?

I owned a Palm 505 for exactly 24 hours. I liked everything about it except the color screen which was why I bought it. The color was almost non existant. So back it went. I may pull the trigger on the Sony for the price, Palm can't touch it.

The T615 is the color version of the T415, an ultra thin monochrome Sony Palm OS PDA. The N610C is the MP3-less version of the N760C.

All I can say is test drive each one of those PDA's before you buy. Once you look at the "color screen" on the Palm you'll ask yourself, is this color? Palm make a solid PDA, but if you are looking for a "color" screen look else where.

T-615C has 16MB RAM, enhanced IR, vibrate alarm, "direct" TFT screen (as oppose to reflective TFT), and a smaller size.

and maybe more importantly for some: the T415 and T615 do not have a compatible Targus Stowaway keyboard

Why would you want PocketPC ??

I have my N610C for about 7 months...since it first came out. It's a great pda! Palm's color screen is not even comparable to Sony's. Plus, m505 can't even adjust the brightness :Q For $250, you can't go wrong with N610.

yeah, sony lowered the prices of most of their PDAs by $50 or so, retail that is.

The 615 is due out this month, hehe, not out yet. (color)
The 360 is due out February for $200, and is prolly what i will get. (monochrome)

Both models have 320x320 res with 16MB of memory.

and you can get a 128MB memory stick from buy.com for $61 (lexar)

The best thing about PocketPC is u can use the full size of the screen hiding the stylus keypad area unlike in Palm where it takes up 1/3 screen permanently. Palm is great if you plan to use your PDA mostly for simple use like contacts, reminders, etc. But PocketPC gets better when you do lot of reading like web access, watch pictures of your family and so on, on it. I had PalmVx for a while and loved it. Replaced it with iPAQ and ever since wonder why Palm couldn't improve with their stuff for being there so long?

These Sony's sure look great. Even better than iPAQs but I hate to see the lower part of display permanently gone. Just before the Pricedrop on Sony CLIEs, some of these models were available at sonystyle.com with FREE leather case, 32MB Memory stick and Free shipping. That was a great time to get this and PM with Blue with the newer low prices. Also, they had a Mail in Rebate for FREE 32MB Memory Stick till jan 9th.

I have the Sony Clie PEG-S320 (monochrome) and love it, IMHO it delivers a lot more bang for your buck than a comparable Palm Vx.

No comparison between the Clie N610 (or 760) and the Palm M505; the Palm has a lower resolution screen, and both the colors and brightness suck big time on the M505. Both Palm and Handspring are now lagging behind with their current PDA's. If you want a Palm OS-based PDA, the Sony Clies are the best choice!

But I am seriously thinking of getting a PocketPC once they become a bit smaller (probably in a year time frame); there are all kind of video game emulators you can find on PocketPC, including an almost perfect version of the TurboExpress (handheld Turbografx-16) system; the funny thing is that the Pocket PC itself is smaller than the actual TurboExpress! For now, the Sony Clie is my first choice (smaller than PocketPC's, beautiful screen, and affordable).

The Palm m505 has a lesser-quality screen, sure, but when I think about the lack of expandability of the Clie, I can live with the m505's screen.

As far as PalmOS v. WinCE, there are simply an overwhelming number of applications out for the PalmOS over the WinCE OS.

Well, I meant compared to Palm's own devices, and also compared to PocketPC's, which come with much more features but do cost a fortune. But I am sure that others will agree with me that Sony Clies at all price ranges are indeed affordable (compare the price of the Clie S-320 to the price of the Palm M125, or the price of the 610 to an M505). Handspring is typically less expensive, but the Visors are now lagging behind with their inferior screen resolution.
