How would a gc deduct anything from your costs. When you buy the CLIE, you pay $299 and you get a 50 GC to spend at GoodGuys. There is nothing being taken off the purchase price. In essence, you are getting an item for free ($50 value).
Buying the CLIE is a great deal with the Rebate, but sony's website says only at participating retailers. Alls I know is that that nice coupon buy.com has doesn't do me any good if they won't honor my purchace of the clie from them to get a really low price for it. I am going to call the rebate center and see if they will honor a purchase from buy.com.
It doesn't really matter about buy.com because they sell the PDA for $349 and you get only a choice pricematch or coupon. I couldn't find an Good guys near me that sold a CLIE. *boohoo* Now The best bet is OD with the $15 off coupon. One thing that buggung me, can you use this guy for an MP3 player. Probably not, but if you could it would be really sweet. Without that capability kinda takes the E out of Entertainment in CLIE.
Anyone gone through GoodGuys yet? I know for a fact the the "GC" is really a rebate check, at least that's what I got for my cell phone a few months ago. It went straight into my bank account. I hope that 200% pricematch is still in effect!

Does anyone know if Staples carries it? I'd love to PM the Office Depot flyer and then apply a few coupons to it (I know for a fact that you can use at least $35 worth). Can Staples 800 PM a flyer ad? And do they sell things not on their web site (IE only in their store)?
Mysterie, the Clie has no audio jack for MP3s... I think the "E" refers to games on the device.
Am I right in thinking that you get a stock case with the Clie PLUS a second case via the rebate?
my roommate here works for the GOODGUYS for 2 years now, you must have the AD "PRINTED" on paper, they only do pricematch if your item is on an AD on "PAPER" otherwise no deal on pricematching~
Not necessarily. i walked into a GG the other day. Told the salesman I could get a speaker set, Energy, for about $300 less then their price. The guy was ready to give me a PM even though the store I was matching with was in Canada. Depends on the salesperson I think. I know a co-worker walked into a GG and pricematched a Toshiba HDTV set to BB with no ad and got no problems.
Two questions. Where are you guys finding the Clie for $299 at OD? I went to two in the LA area today, and they wanted $349. The sales flier in the LA times had no mention of it either. #2, I seem to recall that the OD rebate was a flier/coupon that was sent to some ppl? If not, where can I get the code? T@chbarigains doesn't have it.

It was in last weeks OD ad. The manager in the Monclair store (east of the 10 fwy) said that this should be the regular price from now on, but from what you say it may not be. I was going to return mine (decided to keep my Visor, CLIE has no MP3 capability), if you want I can give it to you for what I paid for it if you really want it (it's $299 plus 8.25% tax, didn't open it). Just IM me.
pete, the screen is way better than palm vx. it's all the palm vx is, and more. you get an address book w/ pictures. kinda neat. more memory, approx. the same size. i think the palm looks a little nicer, but all-in-all, i'd still get the sony over the palm.
The screen quality is better than that on the Vx? Are you sure? Are you basing that on the backlight, b/c you can change the Vx "reverse" backlight to a regular one with some option (forgot which).
For this price though, it's a great deal--half the price of a Vx, with double the memory. Sweet. Are there any nice hard cases available for the Clie, like the Palm V Hard Case? I'd like to keep it in my pocket without fear of scratching/cracking the screen.
I have checked all 3 of the not so "Good Guys!" in the Sacramento area - Florin, Arden and Sunrise - and none of them carry the CLIE. They don't carry any handhelds beside the Palms. Has anyone seen a bay area Good Guys that has the Sony in stock?
