To clarify, because the + is confusing:

Supported disc format: DVD-ROM, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-Video CD, CD-DA, CD-ROM (XA), CD Extra, Video CD, Photo CD*, CD Text, multi-session

So it's all formats except DVD-RAM.

Essential works. Pricematch and order was done within 5 minutes. No problems. FYI, you can pricematch other things (say the Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum) to Newegg as well.

Just my two cents, but I've found Essential and Newegg to be the two best places to deal with for computer parts on the web. Even better when you can pricematch and then use Staples coupons.

Some are, some are not. I've about 150 fielded systems which bought the Toshiba or Panasonic DVD-Ram which used single sided media only.
Unfortunately the da&* software intregator dropped the driver for the DVD-RAM, thus the Army get's a bunch of DVD readers at premium prices.

No, the U10A is an OEM of the 500A model (previous one). It does not allow 4x DVD+RW, only 2.4x.

I just called Staples and they rejected me on this deal.

They said that Essential Computing is not an authorized dealer on this product.

They also said that there has been no records of other other getting this pricematch passed through.

What do you think? Should I try again?

Yes. If you get a bad CSR, try again. I can state without a doubt that they have pricematched Essential.

Every once in a while, you just have to hit the right CSR. You're the first one to post with having a problem getting it.

Lite-On IT expects to start shipping 4x half-height DVD+RW drives in July...

Shipments of 4x DVD+RW drives are expected to be 100,000 units in September, and the company expects to generate NT$3.1 billion to NT$4.4 billion from its DVD+RW drive sales this year ? if the ASP (average selling price) is maintained at around US$130, the company said.

I have a sonydru500ax myself but initially preferred dvd-r but now for sure like dvd+r way better because no 3 mins open and closing session time when burning and if it says 2.4X or 4X then by golly it does burn at that speed unlike dvd-r which is hit and miss.
So to my friends, etc. I definitely recommend get this Lite-on when it comes out. This is the main reason Sony prices are dropping like crazy due to Lite-On coming out.

That is NOT a dual format drive however. They're expecting an 8x speed to ship in 4th quarter, which I find interesting since the 4x spec for +RW was just set and only now starting to appear. Must be referring to the R media.

Still would say if you want a dual, go with this Sony for it's proven track record and compatibility.

true it's not dual format but I definitely IMHO would go for +R rather than -R. If your 1997 dvd player doesn't play it then go get a new dvd player for $100. So $100 (unlikely) + $130 = $230 at most...still cheaper than $260 sony dual format. I'll probably sell my sony dual for a major loss and get this lite-on instead.
