I've had Sprint for over 3 years now. Aside from some problems with the actual phone, I've never had issues with their service.

I think it all depends on where you are located and how much you travel and where you travel.

My fiance had Sprint for a year and we got so sick and tired of it. The funny part was if she would stand near her apartment door, the reception was clear.... but if she went to the patio, the signal would drop every min. of conversation. We even had our grocery store preferences based on her coverage. Would not go to Publix because her phone would not work there... so everytime we would end up going to Kroger. It was aweful. Their service did SUCK big time ...atleast for us.

NOw both of us are on VERIZON.... and for us it kicks @ss !!

actually, I heard that sprint pcs is already building a new network. nickname is 3G, or maybe that's the official name. they're moving into the 3GHz range for more clarity, services and range. they won't switch over until the network is up and running everywhere so they can do it all at once (might be later this year). some of the new phones are capable of being upgraded to the new 3G system when it's up and running. otherwise I'm sure they're just going to sell new phones solely for the new network and the old pcs phones will probably go in the trash.

3G is the name of the technology--third generation. It's a CDMA based technology that enables much larger badnwidths to be utilized.

The old phones will work, but without the benefits of 3G. So you won't be able to surf the net at high speed (144k/sec at first) with your existing phone, but you should be able to do everything you can do now. Also, most of the current phones can't be upgraded to 3G. I believe Samsung will be releasing some 3G phones in the next few months. For now, I'm waiting for the new phones before I upgrade.

With the hot deals around, I can't imagine waiting. Just bought two phones (reg. $129.99 each) for $79.00 each (BestBuy PM), with $75.00 Sprint service rebate and $100.00 Circuitcity gift card. Of course I'm stuck with one year of service, but I would have been paying the cost to any of the providers.

The 3G capabilities will be sweet, particularly for technonerds.

SPRINT PCS Sprint PCS 3000/29.99 Promotion

Does anyone know if these rebates can be used in conjuction with getting the above promotion? Anyone called CS and asked? Seems like that's a good price for 200 anytime mins and 2800 off peak mins.

First let me start off by saying I sell Sprint PCS (as you can see in the SIG) and have sold other carriers.

With that said i would like to explain something, NO COMPANY= none! has a perfect system, beleive what you want but all systems have dropped calls. When you are buying a cellular phone a couple things you need to keep in mind are

1. Is the systems overloaded (Cingular is the worst in this arena) Some companies have ho'ed out their system so bad that the sytem has more custo's than it can handle and you will get lots of rapid busy's (this means system is overloaded)

2. Does this company have coverage where i will be most of my time (an example of this is if you live in montana and need celular service than sprint PCS is not for you as they only have roaming there)

3 Who has the best technology in the network (being techies we all know that this is a major item here) CDMA is by far the best, 1900mhz is better than 800mhz, and a pure digital system with no analog anywhere in the system is oviously better, and guess who is the only current nationwide cellular company to incorperate all this? Sprint

No i am not swinging on sprint's nut sack just because i sell it. I trully feel that it is currently the best and with the plans for 3G it will be better. I like many of you am a Paying Sprint PCS customer, I pay over $100.00 a month on my 2 phones and love it!

Does sprint have any plans where they don't charge the roaming fee? With Cingulair being the only other provider in my area, Lubbock, TX, to my knowledge, Spring seems like the logical choice if they have a plan that has a no charge for roaming.

Lockelar - yes you can use that plan and get the rebates! And roaming is rare unless you are out in the middle of nowhere as they have coverage in all major cities!

Alright, sounds like a hot deal for people that don't live in the country like me. They do have coverage in my city that I go to school at, but when I look at their coverage map for my area, the coverage is only for that city and then the major north-south interstate that runs through my city. Maybe they left something off on the coverage map?

Circuit City was offering a $100 mail in rebate in addition to the $50 SPCS rebate. The CC rebate is good for purchases made thru TODAY (March 2nd).

Vortix -- Some of the phones for SPCS are already 3G capable. I know for sure the Sanyo 4700 is capable of 3G, whenever SPCS gets around to rolling it out.

3G is important technology for cell phones but what it will really allow Sprint to do is circumvent the local exchange carriers (bells) and get into peoples houses. Once that technology is ready, expect much more competition in broadband service.

after purchasing the sprint phone a circuit city it will come out to -$20 and i also purchase what is called an enhanced insurance plan from them which cost $60 for 3yrs. That coverage entitles me to is $200 towards a 1 time purchase of a new phone for the next 3 yrs. I know how long these phones last and so i figured it was worth it for me, also since i also get tired of the one i have and always want a new one. the only thing is the out of pocket total that you will have to pay which mine comes to a bit over $200. but eventually you will get it back

Sprint allows you to use them anywhere on their network, which spans most of the US

Sprint also has an unpublished deal for 650 anytime minutes, 3000 or so nigt and weekend minutes that begin at 8pm rather than 9, and free wireless web if you can talk them into it for 35.99. You need to call and ask for it though. Tell the CSR their rates are not as competitive as other companies. Thread
