what if you don't have a fax machine?

tell staples to fedex you a fax machine, then you will fax them the coupon. if they want the fax machine back, you will need an RMA number and a free shipping label.

the point of shopping online is so you don't have to leave your seat. you don't have time to leave your seat to go to staples b&m... if they whip out these coupons, they should be prepared to honor them.

I checked my order online and it showed that the monitor was 'unavailable'. I called a CSR and was told that they didn't have anymore. He did say that he would put it on back on backorder, that it was NOT a discontinued item, and that someone would contact me within 10 bus. days. When I asked about the 50 off 200 coupon, he said 'it was still in there', even though my other item (peachtree 2003) shipped and the order total was now under 200 bucks. OK fine.

Not ten min. later I get a call from Staples re- the same order, 'sorry the monitor isn't available, could you go on-line in a few days and try to order it again......'

I tell her about my conversation prior, she says 'oh' and confirms what I was told above.

Wierd...all I care is that they ship it to me!

Called around 2:00 PM to change monitor shipping date.

And asked about order one more monitor, she said if order today, it will be delivered on 15th; asked about using another $50 coupon, she said once per account; asked about using another $30 off $150, she said it should be ok, and reminded me one person can only receive one $80 rebate.

I don't know why it shows "out of stock" to some of you, maybe there is a "black list"?

Good luck trying, guys.

staples canceled my order without telling me, and once i found out by looking on the web page i called up a CSR and complained. They "found one" and will ship it, and gave me the $50 coupons (which had otherwise dissappeared off my order) plus another $15 off. Also, she sold it to me for $149 and not the $159 that it was incorrectly showing. Total cost: $5 after rebates. What a great country.......

Have 80 mi commute. Last night stopped by nearest Staples and asked about EN710 monitor deal. None in stock, goodbye end of story. Drove 30 miles and stopped by next Staples. None in stock but would you like to order one? Yes. Manager steps in and tells me they are substituting EN-775E monitor (upgrade) would I like it at the same price with the same rebate deal. Yes. Nicer looking monitor with better specs. Only it doesn't show up on rebate printout. Manager shows me 3-ring binder with info from Envision that EN-775E will be honored for $80 rebate and if there is any problem come back to her. So except for that possible glich I'm very happy with deal. They gave me an instant coupon no. 32488 for $15.04 to adjust the price and accepted my $30 off $150 coupon. (Did the witeout.) Anandtech is awesome.

call the csr and ask them to fax them to you; i haven't done this yet - but since it's still in their weekly circular they should have no problem getting you the wite out rebates by fax...

Was at Staples today. The EN-710 mentioned in the flyer is OOS and the sales person offered a Rain Check. TheManager was around and he announced that they were substituting it with the Envision EN-775E 17" Flat Screen monitor (#490583).

One more twist adds to this deal.

My friend ordered one monitor, MS money and Tax cut by phone using $50 coupon, Staples assured he will have the monitor. Next day, he was told monitor is out of stock, and disconutinued. He called back asking for substituting it with the Envision EN-775E; but he was told $80 rebate is not for 775E, he will not get the rebate. He called back today wanting to cancel whole order; software already shipped, he can reject shippment when arrives -- here is the twist: Staples applied $50 coupon to $49 purchase. So, after sending in rebate, he will make $45.

How does Staples do business? My friend actually feels kind of "bad".

I called Staples rebate center today and asked how to fill out the rebate form for the substitute en-775 when it isn't an option. Was put on hold then told to fill out the form using the en-710. Will then receive a postcard disallowing the rebate. Call RC and they will validate the rebate. Hope this works. "I've got all my cash tied up in rebates."

I also had the monitor OOS after I ordered it . Also assumed that the $50 coupon was used to cover
my filler items but 4 days after ordering I was billed full price for those items .
Based on these postings I called this morning and had the other monitor substituted and made
sure that the $50 coupon was applied .

I called this AM and sucessfully substituted the EN-775E for the 710, at the 710's price of $149.98. Was also able to get the 50 off 200 applied as my original order was $300 plus. So the net on the monitor will be $26.73. I sure hope that the rebate center comes through with a minimum of hassle on this!

WARNING

I just called the rebate center (1-888-856-9210) and, after checking with the supervisor, was told the only valid models are the listed/orginal two, not the 775E. So I not buying until we get some solid proof that the $80 rebate will be honored.

I do want this to work but even the 775E isn't worth $100 ($150 - 50 off 200).

i spoke to a supervisor at 800-3staples today who changed my order over to the flat screen monitor. She said to write on the rebate that it was a subsitution and it should not be a problem. She gave me her name and extension just in case. Also, its a staples rebate, so i highly doubt there will be too much of a problem since they are doing the substitution......or am i wrong in that?
