if those newegg specs are correct, that 4gig kit is slower RAM overclocked to ddr2-800 as lists 2.1v as the voltage, heatsinks slapped on to keep them from burning up. Is probably substandard batch of RAM, speed-wise, that they are trying to dump. Assuming the 2.1v listing is accurate. If anyone has that 4gig kit and running fine at 1.8v or 1.9volts at full ddr2-800 speed please let us know.

Down to $25.32 per stick with the Froogle link (but check the other one -- shipping might differ) at eWiz. NewEgg has the blue set mentioned above for $50 shipped after $20 rebate (but again, uncertain rebate).

Dang, $8.55 shipped for a single stick, pretty steep. I found that one of my supertalent sticks is faulty so I'm tempted to get another one instead of waiting around for the RMA but the shipping seems high.

I agree -- I'm looking at $18.xx shipping for 4 x 2 GB sticks and 2 Zalman ZM-CS1 adapters (not heavy at all). The shipping always makes me pause at eWiz to be honest and I still haven't clicked buy. I'd say somewhere around $11.xx would be semi-reasonable and $8.xx acceptable for my order but $18.xx is getting kind of silly.

edit: Weird -- it's the CS-ZM1 kits at .2 lbs each that double the shipping. Odd place. I can get both shipped for slightly more at NewEgg (w/ $3.99 egg saver shipping) then eWiz wants for shipping on them alone.

Yeah, but this is a good deal for people like me who need large quantities. Just ordered 32 of these, shipping came out to 50 cents a piece. At $23 a pop, shipping is irrelevant.

Yep! The good news is the shipping is much more reasonable when NOT using the Froogle links. Plus the price (at least for the memory) is lower too. Sweeet!

Odd, shipping cost for me is the same insane $8.55 for one stick regardless of which link I use.

Now it is gone -- anyone see this before? Wondering if I should wait a day or two as I was just getting ready to order a bunch of 2 GB sticks.

Yeah, it happens. Just wait a day or two. They'll be back.

I struck at $23 per. Got 64GB coming Friday (@$94 shipped per 4x2GB).

Nice! This deal is making me rethink my motherboard choice for a few test things -- would prefer to have 4 DDR2 slots over the 2 offered by my econo choice . Waiting patiently....

I'm hoping someone can help me pick what ram i need. I'm currently running a AMD BE-2300 with an M2A-VM and 2 gigs of ram. I'm thinking about a cheap upgrade. a Biostar TF560 that can probably OC the chip to about 3 gig, and picking up 2x2gig of ram.

which one of these Super Talent should I get? and How about this one over at Newegg?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...emory-_-L6A-_-20609283

it's about $18 AR and free ship. and do I really need 2x2gig or can I just add a 1x2gig to the 2x1 gig of ram I already have.

Thanks for the help

I have 4 RAM slots on my pc, with 2 currently in use, both DDR2-800 1GB sticks. Can I fill up just the 3rd slot with a single 2GB RAM stick from this thread? Or will I lose the Dual Channel (if that is the right term) performance boost?

You're better off going with 6GB (2x2GB and 2x1GB), but that would call for using 64bit Windows (or linux). If you want to stick with 4GB, you're better off with 4x1GB.

Link for 1GB DDR2-800 modules...
http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=T8UA1G8C5

Also, if you do intend to use mixed capacities, the larger capacity modules need to run in the first dimm(s). Check your motherboard manual. But usually it would go something like this...

DIMM-1 = 2GB
DIMM-2 = 1GB
DIMM-3 = 2GB
DIMM-4 = 1GB

Or perhaps for some motherboards...

DIMM-1 = 2GB
DIMM-2 = 2GB
DIMM-3 = 1GB
DIMM-4 = 1GB

Now down to $20 via Froogle, $20.50 direct. According to their cart though, this may be the end of the line:

[FR] Don't Wait-Never Come Back! STT DDR2-800 2GB/128x8 S-RIGID Memory T8UB2GC5

I wimped out and didn't order before but now I will after I decided between 8 GB and 16 GB .

edit: Went with 8 GB which should be plenty for now. I got some ZM-CS1 kits to adapt some Zalman 7000 cpu coolers (remember those?) to socket 775. Trying to quiet down some HTPC systems.

Just as a FYI one of these sticks was giving me issues in memtest. I RMA'd it to SuperTalent and got a new stick back, total turn around was ~3 weeks. Not too bad considering the price of the sticks. I give their service a thumbs up.

I wonder -- is DDR3 now becoming really popular? Perhaps that is why?
