HOT?! Telex 2.1 multimedia speakers $40 at Compusa.com (MSRP $200!)

Don't know if this is a price mistake or not, but CompUSA has the Telex Hardcore 2.1 multimedia speakers for $39.99 plus shipping ($21 ground shipping for me) here. Here's the Gamespot Review

I've played with these. They're a good deal at $40 but their build quality is cheap, particularly the sub.

But for $40 who cares?

probably not a typo if you think about it...seem to be a LOT of audio hardware sales lately...what's going on?!
In like the last 2 weeks there's been:
Cheap Sennheiser 221's(I picked em up for like $18 cuz I had a mastercard GC but otherwise like $32 or something).
Cheap Yamaha YST MS50's(actually cheaper watt for watt vs these but needs a rebate to get to that cheapness level but free shipping).
Cheap Yamaha CAVIT and speakers and whatever

And now these. Is there like a speaker firesale going on or what?!

They occasionally have "penny shipping" which is pretty close to free

These seem to be in stock at locations near me but I would actually rather have it shipped free to my college so there's less junk to bring.

I think I'll pass since these are supposedly HUGE speakers, and that's the opposite of the whole purpose of my setup I switched to a laptop from my usual yearly desktop build(I build a new PC each year usually), and sold off my Z-560's for the Yamaha's plus some headphones. So this would undo quite a bit of my own work and it'd be stupid

These are very good sounding speakers. They would be GREAT dorm speakers, if you can get past the styling (and the large-ish footprints), because they can really pump out the volume. But unlike most LOUDspeakers, these are actually reasonably musical.

At their original price, they were competitive with the well-liked Klipsh speakers. At $40, they're a steal.

But only if you can deal with the industrial styling and the very large footprints.

Nice find on that... Im gonna bring it in tommorow and hopefully get these speakers for $30... for people that dont care for the Telex you can get a better-then-normal price on Klipsch 2.1 ($135) with that printout.

its actually a toss up on these speakers working with that 25% coupon. Since you are buying them at 20% of the normal price the manager may argue that qualifies as a clearance. Ah well. $40 still seems like an awesome deal.

Huh? These speakers are in the system at $39.99. That's the price in store or online. Note that they are still marked at $199.99 in the store, but ring up at $39.99. Since it ends in 99, it's not considered a clearance price, although it obviously is. There is no "20% off" involved.

The 25% off tomorrow should work, but if anyone here has a clue, there won't be any left tomorrow. So buy today, price adjust tomorrow.

They have these on display at most CompUSA, as well as Microcenter. Go and try them and you WILL buy them. They are way better than anything else on display with the possible exception of the $200 Klipsh set. They blow away all the Logitech sets, even the one that retails for $369. (Although, truth in advertising: These are 2+1, the high end Logitech set is 5+1).

Note again about the syling: These will NOT appeal to people who like their speakers or whatever "cute". These look like PA speakers.

I wish I had not jumped on those Yamaha 2.1. This thingy does not have any rebate and is +40Watt total compared to my Yahama.

These are also a LOT better sounding than the Yamahas. My sister bought a pair of the Yamahas from Buy.com (on my suggestion) last week. I just took a set of these over to her place to let her hear the difference. She kicked me out of her house, then she kicked the Yamahas. She's on her way to CompUSA right now!

I just picked up the last one at compusa in Bellevue wa. Unless they have more in the back. Very good sounding for the price. They definatly sound better than My Klipsch 2.1's cranked up. Klipsch tend to distort a bit. The downside of these speakers besides size/design which isn't to bad. They don't image as well as the Klipsch, a little tweaking fixed that. And if you have them close to your monitor when you crank them up it creates lines on the screen.
