This will be for my first system in a small apt. so I can't use too much base.

If you mean a receiver then yes, you would have to buy one separately to power the speakers.

The 3-piece with a sub would probably be better. The only reason I didn't get the sub is I live in an apt. over a business. If I need the sub later I could always get one from anywhere.

You can always get the P5 surrounds later if they have another sale next year.

The site says 40% off, but when you try to apply the coupon code the OP stated (40off) an error comes back indicating that the coupon code has expired. Not very encouraging. However, if you take their suggested list price and subtract 40% it comes out to be what they show as the current price for each speaker.

This is correct! If you look on their main page it states that no coupon is needed now.

When I originally saw the deal you needed the coupon code. Yesterday they changed the prices to reflect the 40% discount which makes it easier.

Hmm tempted to pick up the P series for the basement (360 gaming tv). I've got a nice high polk system upstairs but it really sucks when I'm playing games in basement with no tv.

Wonder how these woudl stack up compared to a decent theatre in a box setup.

Reading this thread you'll see that they are affiliated with D&M Holdings (Denon, Marantz, Boston Acoustics, McIntosh, etc.) Seems that they work out of the same building in fact.

Yes, they ceased operations shortly after the new year. Too bad, they had some decent stuff for good prices. I don't think the name helped much though, it was kind of goofy.

they say warranties will be honored for the full 5 years...i'm hoping I never have to find out...
