Can anyone explain to me why a NIC costs $50? I know this is "special" because it's the only one that works in a Tivo, but I think someone is making 500% profit or something equally outlandish on every one of these cards. Does anyone know the real manufacturer of these? "turbonet" is the name given for its use in conjunction with tivo... I don't see any other usage of that name with a network card in a google search.

Sending an email to them to ask if their company is located under any type of resellerratings site. I will post here if they respond. Anyone know how much one of these things weigh? I am guessing whoever would want to make the order could send them out at about $2 via 1st class.

I bought a turbonet from them 2 weeks ago. It came promptly in 3 days. I think there used to be a discount $35 + shipping for the card. Just tell them you saw it on tivo-canada group.

What about the USB adapter? Its only $12.25. I have one of those already, so do you think that would work. I'll add that I just got a Hughes direct tivo last month.

The Series 1 TiVo's do not have a USB port, so that's obviously not an option for the older units. They have a diagnostic connector that's sort of a cross between a male ISA and PCI connector. The female Turbonet fits that connector.

You're welcome to reverse engineer that diagnostic port and sell your own $10 Series 1 TiVo NIC's

I looked around the net and I guess the USB nics wont work with the Diret Tivos . That really sucks, if it did work that would be the way to go. You wouldn't have to open up the box, and its a lot cheaper.

Why in the world would you want a usb nic for a directive, I thought for sattelite PVRS the guide updates over the sattelite feed, not over the phone....

The price on the Airnets is going to be around $42-49ea. The lead time is about 2 1/2 weeks till the first shipment is here.
