Ok, I ordered one. After I confirmed the transaction, I was transfered to Xtremetive.com site. Do I need to do anything else on the XtremeTivo site to complete the order?

Thanks for making this offer available to us at reduced prices.

OK, I checked out the links...You connect an ethernet cable to this card. BUT the connection is inside the box. So you need to run the wire to the outside of the Tivo box...How do you do this? Drill a hole in the Tivo box? Or is there a more elegant solution?

Outside of being able to get your updates via ethernet instead of the phone line, what other advantage is there to making this upgrade? (I am not about to pay Tivo $99 or whatever to get sharing priviledges).

You can extract your saved videos provided that you are using Xtreme 2.5 and higher. You can also get updates via the web and you can schedule recordings over the web.

jedidrw: you should probably edit the deal to it's now $41/Turbonet as that's a hotter deal.

Oh yeah, the way you get it working is that once you have it installed, you run a small patch cord inside, route it through one of those holes on the bottom, and then stick a RJ45-RJ45 plug on the bottom of that. Hey - Xtreme - do you have any spare RJ45 adapters?

Excellent! Just ordered another TurboNet. Man sure beats the $70 I paid 9th tee!

We are testing with a D-link, but any card with a prism2/2.5 chipset should work fine.

How do you set it up so it fetches programming information via the NIC? Is it still through TiVo? AVS forums are down.

There's a tivo website for it. I think you can find it in the tivo community forums. I'll post it up once I refind it / which should be in a day or two when i need it after I install the card.

I have a TivoNet (the older version that adapts an NE2000 clone to work with a TiVo) in a Philips HDR112. There's a tab on the back of the cover that can be snipped off to expose a squarish hole on the back of the case through which you can feed a network cable. I'd recommend getting a cable with rubber snag-free boots on the ends...you can jam that into the hole and tie a loose knot on the inside so that if you tug on the cable from the outside, it won't get yanked out. You end up with a short length of cable sticking out the back with a plug on it. You can plug this directly into a hub or switch or you can use a Cat5 coupler to join it to a longer cable.

I'm just glad to finally see some price competition here. 9th tee provides great service, but their virtual monopoly has allowed them to charge what I consider to be too much... Hopefully they'll start dropping the price to match.

Extraction looks like a bitch, and that's the only reason I'd get one of these cards. Is anyone here doing extraction?

I'm thinking I'll just get the Toshiba TiVo/DVD-RW combo unit coming out in August.

You need a DHCP server on your network. You can follow these instructions to get telnet going: Text
Then you can get FTP running, extraction, schedule recordings over the web, etc. Tivocommunity.com will not have anything related to extraction, you'll need to google that stuff.
